Thierry Henry's agent Jerome Anderson has confirmed he is to take legal action over a report which claimed his client has signed for Barcelona. The report, in France Football magazine, that a £37million three-year deal was agreed last week at a meeting between Barca sporting director Txiki Beguiristain and Anderson, had the latter picking up the phone to his lawyers.

Anderson, who has represented Henry since he joined Arsenal via Juventus for around £11million in August 1999, was furious at the France Football report and has ordered legal action.

In a statement, he said: "No meetings have ever taken place between Jerome Anderson and Barcelona in France or anywhere else."

And later he issued another edict which read: "Jerome Anderson, chairman and chief executive of the Sport Entertainment and Media Group Limited (SEM) has instructed law firm, Schillings, to take legal action against France Football over false allegations in the French newspaper that Jerome Anderson met and agreed the terms of a three-year contract with Barcelona Football Club for Thierry Henry.

"Thierry Henry, as it is widely known, is under contract with Arsenal."

Henry's Arsenal future has again been the subject of massive speculation this summer despite him signing a new four-year contract which made him the North London club's highest-paid player ever, reputedly on £110,000-a-week, less than a year ago.

Barcelona, as well as Spanish rivals Real Madrid, were at that time said to be hunting Henry but he rebuffed their advances by staying in London for Arsenal's inaugural season at Emirates Stadium.

The talismanic Gunners striker has also been linked with AC Milan this summer, but, like his agent, he insists no decision has been made over his future and that he remains an Arsenal player.

is slander a common law offense in europe? :D
Doesn't need to be because, if the slander or defamation is online, it can be prosecuted in any country in which the information is veiwed and so can be tried in country who does have slander as an offence.
