Yes, amico mio.

My dad's parents are Genovese (from above Recco)

My mom was born there near Lucca

My wife's parents are also Genovese (from Chiavari)

Bravissimo. Parli Italiano come un'Italiano. Parlo due dialetti (spelling?):

Italiano (la mia mamma) e Genovese (Zenaise--il mio babbo)

Si può dire che parlo solo la versione italiano (ufficiale) che nessuno in Italia parla

Genovese and Napolitano have a few similarities, actually.

To illustrate the differences--pillow in

Italian = guanciale

Genovese: luahgee (LOO ah gheh)
