08/22/2003. Atletico Madrid have signed a shirt sponsorship deal with Colombia Tristar, and will promote the company's films on their jersey's next season.

The likes of 'Spiderman 2' will be advertised, and to help promot the new partnership, Harrison Ford is expected to sign as an Atletico Madrid member.

"The deal has generated massive interest because it's such a novel idea," said Atletico president Enrique Cerez. "Each month the team will advertise a different film."

Atlético, a popular team in Spain, promotes movies and they get paid for it. It's as simple as that. Harrison Ford being a ... er ... let's say Mascotte in all of this.

"Durante la mañana del jueves 21 se ha firmado un acuerdo entre la productora Columbia y el Atlético de Madrid. La empresa cinematográfica se encargará de esponsorizar al club durante la campaña 2003/2004. Las camisetas rojiblancas lucirán como publicidad el título de una película que irá cambiando cada mes aproximadamente.

El primer título cinematográfico que exhibirán los jugadores colchoneros será “Dos Policías Rebeldes II”, a este título se le añadirán esta temporada otros como: “Hollywood: Departamento de Homicidios”, “SWAT. Los Hombres de Harrelson”, “Bienvenido a La Jungla”, “El Gran Pez”, “Peter Pan”, “Spider-Man II” y “Di que si”.

Al acto acudieron Enrique Cerezo, presidente del Atlético de Madrid; Ernesto Victoria, presidente de Columbia en España; Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Emilio Gutiérrez y Ricardo Goldstein. También asistieron Gregorio Manzano, entrenador del Atlético, y los jugadores Fernando Torres, Simeone, Germán Burgos, Rodrigo, García Calvo y Ortiz.

Durante la presentación se proyectaron varios fragmentos de las películas que aparecerán en las camisetas rojiblancas. Tras ello, los directores de comunicación y marketing de ambas entidades mostraron su felicidad por el acuerdo que se ha cerrado.

Posteriormente los presidentes de ambas empresas explicaron la situación en la que se había llegado al acuerdo y atendieron a las preguntas de los periodistas que se habían dado cita en el acto.

Antes de cerrar la presentación los futbolistas mostraron el primer modelo de camiseta que lucirán en el Trofeo Centenario Mahou Cinco Estrellas del próximo lunes 25.
