Which is precisely why I love the deep complexities raised with an All-American bumper sticker that says, "Allah bless America" with a waving American flag on it. It forces people to face their stereotypes.

On the one hand, you get a very patriotic-sounding message that American Joe Public cannot sanely raise issues against. But on the other hand, it forces a recognition of diversity in this country -- the core of what "liberty and justice for all" means -- that runs counter to the terrorist stereotypes and the safe confines of white Anglo-Christiandom.

It will split many people's minds in half, which is why I love the concept.

But Axl, do note that you seem to be making generalizations about non-Muslims here as much as other non-Muslims might make of Muslims.
Good post. Unfortunately, I've seen the opposite reaction to that sort of thing. I've heard blatently racist reactions to non-Irish being involved in any manner with society here.

Even when Sean óg Ó h'Alpín (who's half-Fijian, and was born in Fiji) captained Cork (his father's county) to the All-Ireland Hurling title this year, some of the stuff I heard people say (in person and in the media) were some where between patronising and racist.

I think a lot of people have an ignorant, sickening reaction to difference. Flaunting that doesn't make them think. Rather, the opposite.

It could be read in that way aswell :D Bil? shouldn't be il? il-raheena
amsakna al raheena is grammatically incorrect.. Bil (or bi-al) is needed because the verb of catching is upon the hostage.. Complicated stuff, really.. :D
