The media is messing with everyone here it's not even funny.

Each day a new source will come and every other day both parties will say that nothing is happening. This can last forever.

If it doesn't happen within 2 days Ciro is staying until we get our ass kicked once again. It's what I predict.

Unless some1 is sold, I don't see how we can afford 7m a year plus bonuses for a coach.

10 mln per year?

if he fails and blank decide to sack him, compensation could be devastating.
Exactly. It would be very reckless to give a new coach (not to mention 1 arriving in January), a large contract when he is yet to prove himself at the club. If we offer him a 3 year deal and he completely fails in the next 6 months, the idea of firing him is unthinkable considering the money we would have to pay to release him.

I'm not saying we should continue to be cheap with coaches and offer Guus peanuts, but there are smarter contracts we can offer.

Why the hell do we always try to act like a small club? We are a big and rich club and we should pay up for our coach and not get cheap coaches like Ranieri and Ciro. Every team have good coaches who get alot of money.. Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan, Barca, Real, Inter and Milan all pay these figures for their coaches.

you are missing the point.
milan did the same as we did and if leonardo was struggling they would be in a smiler position. Also, Barca only offered pep a high salary when hey exended his contract but not when they first appointed him.

the other teams invested in the coaches as they are willing to stick with them on the long run ( with the exception of real and chelsea, who have high spending power and i really don't understand how do you compare them to us in that sense)

to reiterate the point behind this, we can afford to get guus but we cant afford to sack him. I.e if we sign him or 7m+ per season for 3 seasons and then sack him by summer we will have to cough up something between 14 and 21 millions which will cripple uor transfer season which we will need to be very active.

now you might say , why are we assuming that he will fail? well, if we get him it will be because he is the best option available not because he is the best coach for the team.
