No to dial .. no

Dial are a team where if you dont break in straight away , you are screwed and will be left to rot

He should either look for a big team that will give him a fair go or move to a smaller team in one of the big three leagues to learn and prove hes good enough... So as then he will be ready to walk straight into a starting line up

So I mean bigger as in overall, not nes a bigger team
:fero:well what is Juve going to do to DV if he stays another 2 years.

+

who was left to rot in Arsenal?

    Yeah I remember that!

Paul - I wasn't familiar with that expression, hence my confusion. When you put it like that ... well, that's a very solid point!

    Any comments Erik?

    The Lowdown On Van Persie
I've seen the kid play here in Holland. Definitely a good young talent, and well worth 4-5 million. Having said that, in my opinion he is a very similar player to Pennant (both on and off the pitch!). If Pennant doesn't fit in, what makes us think this guy will?

In any case, if the reports are true and Feyenoord have really said: "We have rejected a first bid and we are waiting for Arsenal to come back to us. We are waiting for written confirmation of a second bid from them," then I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

The last time Feyenoord tried to play the transfer game with Arsenal they lost out. Arsenal bid six million pounds for Dudek, but Feyenoord turned them down, saying they wanted £8.6million. Eventually, Feyenoord sold him to Liverpool for just £4.85m. Are Feyenoord really dumb enough to not take Arsenal's first offer?

...Living here in the Netherlands and being an avid Gooner, I have had a number of Dutch colleagues come up to me about van Persie - in their words he is the only player left in the Feyenoord team who can juggle the ball more than three times (maybe they say this as they are Ajax fans).

He has a very poor discipline record and has been suspended by his own club a number of times for activities not to do with football. However by all accounts he is a very good prospect and should fit into the AFC team.

...Van Persie, in his third season at Feyenoord, is a gifted midfield player. Unfortunately he is of the opinion that he is an extremely gifted player. This has resulted in continuous arguments with Bert van Marwijk, the Feyenoord manager.

He is known as the Enfant Terrible of Rotterdam. Rob Baan, fired as Feyenoord coach in December, characterised van Persie as greedy and threatened him with a seat in the stands if he didn't lower his demands.

He wants to play in the hole behind the strikers, but van Marwijk prefers Tomas Buffel there and has moved van Persie out to the left wing. While extremely popular with the Feyenoord hardcore, it has been a question of when not if he would leave the club.

...Van Persie has been Feyenoord's best player this year. He plays almost like Teddy Sheringham, but has more pace - he does seem to have an attitude problem though.

...But of course I've seen Robin van Persie play, he usually plays on the left wing at Feyenoord but prefers to play behind the strikers and says that he
could score 20+ goals in one season on that position.

He is also a good player from deadball situations, he has a marvellous free-kick. he is two-footed but prefers his left leg - in top form he can play better then the other Dutch talents Arjen Robben and Raphael van der Vaart but he is still too inconsistent. He has the full potential to become a world-class player but needs a firm hand to achieve that goal.

I think that the responders characterized Van Persie pretty well. He is a damn good player and he thinks that he's the best. I personally don't think that is a terribly bad thing. Arsenal needs a bad-boy anyway.

    Oh absolutely!

Feyenoord have made a number of bad transfers in the past. Such as telling Tim Howard his keeping skills are not good enough ( ). But the person responsible for those mistakes (Rob Baan) has been sacked and I strongly believe that the current persons in charge won't make his mistakes again.

Similar to Pennant? Maybe. But only much better in any case.

...Living here in the Netherlands and being an avid Gooner, I have had a number of Dutch colleagues come up to me about van Persie - in their words he is the only player left in the Feyenoord team who can juggle the ball more than three times (maybe they say this as they are Ajax fans).

His poor discipline record is exagerrated immensely. He had some issues with Feyenoord over his salary (but from the numbers I've read in newspapers, he was well justified in asking for a raise seeing as his performances were and are excellent).

...Van Persie, in his third season at Feyenoord, is a gifted midfield player. Unfortunately he is of the opinion that he is an extremely gifted player. This has resulted in continuous arguments with Bert van Marwijk, the Feyenoord manager.

Again the exaggeration. That's a real shame. I have seen various interviews with him on TV and read some stuff about him in magazines and he's not as bad as the media want you to believe. Now tell me, a player who feels that (and I quote) "another season in Holland wouldn't hurt my development at all, I can still learn a lot here despite it not being among the toughest competitions on the Continent" can't be all THAT arrogant, now can he?

...But of course I've seen Robin van Persie play, he usually plays on the left wing at Feyenoord but prefers to play behind the strikers and says that he could score 20+ goals in one season on that position.

I completely agree with this comment.

Studio Sport (the most famous Dutch TV show on sports and a very reliable source as they only report news when confirmed by the involved, official parties) reported tonight that the situation is as follows:

Arsenal expressed interest in Robin van Persie at his manager and his club Feyenoord.

Feyenoord and Van Persie's manager came to a written agreement on the terms of his departure and let Arsenal know they're open to negotiations.

Feyenoord are now waiting for a reaction from Arsenal, the door has been set wide open.

    ----------------------------------------

Well, any other club would buy him now but I've heard that Arsenal have a habit of expressing official interest in a couple of players at the same time and then only pick one. In other words: Van Persie's move to Arsenal is far from official YET.
