Vargas played ML much more than DL lately. Actually, during the entire season he spent much more time in attack than in defense (which is weird for a LB from Catania, a team that is supposed to defend most of the time).
This shows that the guy is actually a midfielder and i believe Fiorentina want him as a midfielder, not as a fullback.

Are you sure? Pasqual's poor form has seen Gobbi, who is actually a midfielder, taking over as leftback the past season and I thought they would sign Vargas to get a proper leftback there.

Also I see little room for a leftmidfielder in Prandelli's set-up. Even if Prandelli will use a 4 man midfield more often, that spot is most likely reserved for Montolivo.

But who knows in the end? maybe Prandelli wants throw things around somewhat.

First i read yesterday how Pasqual is not for sale :

And today even Gazzetta claim that Pasqual is certainly staying in Fiorentina even if they buy Vargas. (looks like Catania accepted the 12m eur, now they are waiting only for Vargas to sign)

Even if Pasqual is far from showing the 2005/06 form, i guess it'll be too much to keep Vargas, Pasqual and Gobbi (who did play well as a LB) for one position.
That's why my assumption that Vargas may play in midfield.

As you say; Pasqual, Vargas and Gobbi is too much for one position. Hence one will be the odd one out. My money's on Pasqual, with Vargas being their leftback.

Not good enough imo. I think we need at least 1 class LB/CB/RB. Just 1 of them would please me. (Dossena, Vargas, Zapata,.....)
