50-50...struggled against tbe better wingers in Ligue 1
i'm impressed, you watch some Ligue?? :xfinger:
Yes, but we won't sign any world beaters & espicially not in the LB position, IMO the best we can realistically hope for is a player of Grosso's ability
fair enough
On penalties and through Materazzi's dirty antics. Not to mention your "tough" run to the final where you had to dive to a penalty to surpass the mighty Australia and then play the even mightier Ukraine in the quarters. And to top it off, you were 2 minutes away from going to penalty kicks with Germany (100% sure loss). I wouldn't be too proud. :D

Anyway, that's OT.
:lol2:
Yeah right. I can't believe people here are still shook up that Italy beat France. What about Euro2000, Trezeguet scored in the last minute of extra time, what if he didn't score and they went to penalities, oh right, Italy still wouldn't deserve a chance to win.
I'm no Azzurri fan but i have to say i agree.

Deserved or not,Italy are World Champions that's a FACT.Call it luck or whatever you like to call it but Italy did not concede one single goal throughout the whole tournament, except that own goal by Zaccardo against USA and the penalties.

Ghana W 2-0
United States D 1-1
Czech Republic W 2-0
Australia W 1-0
Ukraine W 3-0
Germany [aet] W 2-0
France [5-3 ap] D 1-1

If Italy are not deserved World Champions,I don't know who then...
god i am so sick of going through this to all my aussie freinds, it just gets annoying especially when half of my mates dont no a thing of football and they begin to say australia would have beaten you if it werent for that penalty, that was a penalty. italy are deserved champions my freinds!

to all you haters, learn to live with the fact that we are world champions...

I did not want to start a new thread incorrectly so i figured this would be the best place to post this news as this thread is speaking about Full backs.

According to Goal.com

Zambrotta: I Could Return To Juve

Barcelona full back Gianluca Zambrotta has admitted that he would be open to a return to former club Juventus this summer.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful seven seasons in Turin before leaving the city for Barcelona following the Calciopoli crisis in the summer of 2006.

After two trophy-less seasons in Catalonia, Zambrotta is almost certain to move back to Italy this summer, due to the fact that he and his wife are both homesick.

The Italian press had been virtually unanimous in agreeing that the ex-Bari man would be moving to AC Milan, however there has recently been the odd mumbling that a shock return to Juve could be on the cards.

"I experienced an extraordinary period of my career in Turin,” Zambrotta admitted.

“When meeting Juventini, so many fans ask me to come back and I must admit it is always good to feel wanted."

Juventus are looking for a new left back, as current first choice Christian Molinaro has been a little suspect defensively this season.
Zambrotta will be on show at Euro 2008 this summer, in what will be his fifth straight major championships for Italy.

I do not see any evidence of him saying he actually wants to come back but whatever. I strongly doubt this is true either but just thought it may interest some of you guys.

Only just a little .. In regards to Zambrotta, I can't see him coming back nor do I want him too, period. Let him enjoy his last couple of years at that nursing home in Milano

i would easily take him back,i know a lot of fan dont like how he left and although his rather poor season at barca(the whole team had a poor season though) you cant deny hes a class player that would add a lot to our team, plus hes very versatile as we all know
and i have no doubts he can go back to his WC06 levels

Like Big Daddy said, funny Zambrotta comes out with this after Milan looks prepped and ready for UEFA cup action.

I also don't think its any coincidence that Zambrotta is pining for the good old days at Juventus after the shitshow in Barca and two underwhelming years in La Liga.

Would he be useful? Absolutely. The guy can play LB, RB, LWM and RWM.

Would he be welcomed back? Not at first by the tifosi... but I suspect people would forgive him after several good performances.

Would the team welcome him back? Who knows? There's been no reports of any bustup with a Juve player for Italy, but that only means they don't hate each other.

I'd rather have Grosso... but Zambrotta would be a sure injection of class and a good tutor for De Ceglie.

Let Zambro play Uefa Cup with Milan, plus I'd like to see Camo dancing past him in the matches against them. Especially in Turin, the crowd would go wild.

Grosso would be a good solution for LB.

Well I personally would be happy to see him back since he is a great player
I don`t think he would have chosen Milan over us if they were to play CL football

You can say he is a traitor as much as you want but he still is a great LB and maybe the best LB in the world since Maldini

I am still a Zambrotta fan and I was devastated when he left. Although he is a quality player and I wish he had stayed, he left and I don't want him to return just because it suits him while his career is going down the tubes. Where was he when Juventus was going down? I still like Zambro but I do NOT want him back.

id welcome him back with open arms! LB is one of our weakest positions and we definitely need strengthening there, Zambro would be ideal for our push on the scudetto and CL.
Sure he left when we needed him most, but at least he didnt move to another serie a club like those 2 wankers Vieire and Zlatan! Zambrotta himself said that he was forced to leave as the club needed to sell players to lower the wage bracket and prepare for serie b. Im sure the players will welcome him back, especially DP. We need quality, not quantity. If the price was right, id say this could be one of our best deals for building a winning side for next season.
Though if this deal doesnt eventuate, i vote for signing Grosso. The more italian defenders, the better!

This is bullshit, Zambrotta himself said it many times that he was backstabbed and that the club deceived him and his leave was because he didn't want to do with the club
