well ill never forget green day because they introduced myself to the rock in general.... in particular.. my musical life resumes in "before and afetr green day"...

before green day i used to liosten mainly reggae and som latin tunes..... but i remember i was more or less in 5th grade (more or less 10 yeras old)...and one day iu saw the video of (Basket Case).... i remember i was just stunned........... i just forgot about evyrhting else and i bought the "Dookie".

Definitely...Dookie is their best cd by far...... basket case, when i come around, she, and a lot more are just classics....... especially basket case and when i come around... simply excellent.

Their next albums were ok.. being good riddance the best after dookie´s songs.

After listened green day i used to hear bad religion, nofx, lag wagon and those bands.... but it was a period of 2 years more or less...then i doscovered heavy melodic metal and i leaved the "punk" genre.


Still..everytime i lisen one of the "dookie" songs... it is a pleasure to me...because they are classics!

I didnt like Greendays old stuff, they were to much of a skate band and made too much kids music. Warning was a better album, this one is musically their best work yet

being underground does NOT mean they don't have a record contract.. It's just that they don't have a record contract with a "major" label.. As i said, before Dookie, they were on Lookout records and sold enough of their previous albums to make their presene known.. "selling out" means selling out to the MAJORS.. For supposedly "punk" bands who are supposed to be anti-corporate/ establishment, going "major" is tantamount to selling one's soul.. That's why some people call bands like Green Day, Blink 182 as "corporate" punk...

Nirvana, GnR etc are NOT punk bands... They can do whatever THEY want..

When I saw those guys play 924 Gilman in Berkeley and show up at the KALX studios back in 1990, I was entertained but had no clue that they would become as big as they did. Berkeley (CA) has long been a scene for prior acts with similar sounds, like the Mr. T Experience. Except where MTE had a far better sense of humor, GD's songs were more complete.

But even back in 1990 I thought GD's sound was pretty much a retread.
