Hopefully this will be an interesting thread.
Witch is the greatest team in the world today? In that case we’ll have to both look at both the present and the past.
Without any further notice I would say that:
1: Real Madrid
2: Ac Milan
3: Juventus

Real is on their way down but still with that history and the myth about the team I have to put them at No1. But with 1 or 2 more seasons like this their not higher than 3rd or 4th.

Your opinion?

This is a table based on how the teams have managed to succeed in the European cups.

Legend: PR=participations, TW=trophies won, M=matches played, W=wins, D=draws, L=losses, GF=goals for, GA=goals against, GD=goal difference, BP=bonus points (clubs receive one bonus point for reaching the quarterfinals, the semifinals or the final of each competition; clubs participating in the Group Phase of the Champions' League receive one more bonus point (for the seasons 1991/92, 1992/93 and 1993/94 two points were awarded); as of the 2004/05 season, clubs are awarded with three bonus points for reaching the Group Phase and one more bonus point for reaching the first knock-out round of the Champions' League), Pts=total points awarded (each team receives two points for a win and one point for a draw, plus the bonus points awarded by UEFA).

Where did you get the table? Can you please give us the source?

TW? = Trophies won in Europe?

These are stats based in Europe only or also in domestic leagues?

Looking at past and present.... Its Juventus, then Real Madrid, then Manchester United.

    Good thread BTW.
Sry... But Juve is not first. Maybe not even top 3...

Made another table based on our latest away games in CL. (since season 95/96)
This shows how bad we play away. Maybe one explanation why we hasn’t won that much these years.
Remember that this is not just against Madrid or Man Utd. A lot of games is against weaker opponents.

Are you all satisfied with these results?
These are just the games away!

I suspect teams aren't awarded enough points for winning the European Cup.

Milan, Ajax and Liverpool deserve a higher placing, no doubt.

I think looking at past and present, Real Madrid might be the top for only one reason, they have won the CL so many times.
Now in my opinion Juventus should come next because the Serie A is tougher than the spanish lega. Juve won the Scudetto 28 times.
In spain the competition is between just few teams. You can actually speculate the winning team. In the serie a any team can win any match.

But if I had to chose a team that is the best over all, not only in terms of winning I will deffinately chose Juventus. The teams mentality and stability is phenomenal. E.g. from 1994 till 2004 we had only 2 coaches, one who came for a 2 years and was a mistake.
We don't purchase any player who has a nice hair cut. There is a respect for the jearsey, unlike Real Madrid. The players who are playing for Juventus are honored to be wearing the jearsey, unlike Madrids players (thats currently).
Juventus might be the only club in europe who has been fighting for the CL for 10 years without a funder. Milan has berlusconi, Real has the spanish government, Inter has moratti, so do Chelsea ..etc. The Agnellis have not funded Juve for a while now.
I know that we are taking about he last 10 years or so with my last two statements, but 10-15 years are almost more than 10% of the teams history. And thats not little.

I hope my opinion is clear.
