Your favourite performance in a movie, both by an actor and actress. The movie doesnt really need to be all that great,we're only talking about the performance here.

:D

Ledger was phenomenal in the movie. There can be no two opinions about it.
He was phenomenal. But he gets an extra boost for being dead. Like most artists who sell big and experience a major wave of popularity after their death.

Not to take anything away from it, but there were better performances this year, IMO -- let alone of all time. But we are talking favorites here, and favorites do change with the weather...

Ofcourse there are better when you take movie history into consideration. But better performances in 2008?Id have to disagree there.I think Ledger topped them all.

Out of curiosity, which 2008 performacnes do you think overshadowed Ledger's?

I personally liked Chiwetel Ejiofor in "Redbelt", Francois Cluzet in "Tell No One", and pretty much anything Viggo Mortensen did this year ("Appaloosa", "Good") as stronger all-around performances.

And if you're talking an actor adopting a character as their own, I thought Mickey Rourke was seriously badass in "The Wrestler".

I'm always a softie for Philip Seymour Hoffman. But I am too for Benecio del Toro -- so there he is for "Che" along with Sean Penn, perhaps one of the best actors of our current time, for "Milk". I'd give it to one of those two, though I have a soft spot for Benecio.

Peter O'Toole - Lawrence of Arabia comes to mind.

@Greg: You saw Redbelt too? I didn't think anyone else saw it but me.:D
