Goodbye Romeo

Juventus is in mourning today. At around 8 o’clock last night, Francesco Romeo passed away at the Candiolo Institute for the Research and the Cure of Cancer.
Romeo was the most decorated kit-man in the whole of Italy, if not Europe.
Juventus was his home, his family, always. He saw all the great champions of the last thirty years come and go, and whenever any one of them would visit Turin after leaving Juventus, Romeo was always the first person they would go and see. He played around with everyone, and he had an especially strong friendship with Alessandro Del Piero, who last year acted as witness at his wedding. We saw him just a few weeks ago at Vinovo. He had come to pay us a visit and we hoped to see him back with us soon, but he didn’t make it. We will all remember him with the greatest affection.

I didn't know he was ill, I just thought that after getting married he had decided to take a break from work.

I'm so sorry, he was a true Juventino. RIP

He's the one in the middle

He worked as kit man for like 30 years and devoted his life to the team. Year after year, at every victory or loss, he was there with his guys.
If you take a look to some celebration pictures of the various scudettos or the CL you will see him there, even if only in the shadows, cause that is how he lived his passion.
He was a true Juventino and was very close to the various players, especially Ale, who, like the article said, was his best man at his wedding.

He was diagnosed cancer and he had to stop working, but, even though he couldn't help anymore, he visited the team very often in the last months. He was at Vinovo just a couple of weeks ago.
