Big clubs coming to Chicago

You've all heard the rumor about Celtic coming to Chicago to play the Fire this summer, but here's one you may not have heard about.

This summer, Chicago will host a tournament called The Chicago Trophy. The tournament will include four clubs and will take place July 27th and July 29th at Soldier Field.

So which clubs are coming?

They're still working out the details, but I've been told some of the clubs they're talking to are Mexico's Cruz Azul, Greece's Olympiacos, Spain's Sevilla, and Italy's Juventus--among others. Things are still in the negotation stages, so I wouldn't pencil in any of these teams just yet.

This will be the second soccer tournament taking place at Soldier Field this summer. Soldier Field will host the Gold Cup semi-finals June 20th and the finals June 24th.

Celtic go about whoring themselves trying to get as much cash as possible and then come back knackered for the start of the season.

Do you have a source, please?

I don't want to get my hopes up over absolute speculation. But if Juventus were to come to the Chi... I would most certainly be there.

Andy, how much do tickets typically go for a game like that? If it's not too much, I could consider flying out there to watch Juve play.

The Milan -Barcelona match we attended was probably like $60, the Chelsea match a few summers ago was about $60 as well, and I believe the Barca match we attended last summer at Giants stadium was $60 as well.

They cannot make the tickets much higher that $75 if they want to fill all the seats with all those possible matches at Soldier Field in Chicago.

I'm going for sure if they indeed come.

And here I was just in Chicago last week. :(

Well, since I am thinking of going to see them play in Torino in October this year (Serie A, mofos!!! :weee:), I may pass considering the potential for disappointment when European clubs field exhibition squads on American soil.

But if there's enough of a Juventuz presence there, I may have to crash at my parents' again this summer. :D

We will need to get the likes of Pado, Sergio, Vinni and Greg all up here for this match. Then we'll have a nice drinking session/football match in the parking lots before the game. This is what we live for, bovva.
