No knee op for Nedved
Monday 5 July, 2004

Juventus have been boosted with the news that Pavel Nedved doesn’t require surgery for a knee problem.

The Czech Republic star underwent tests in Turin today after picking up the injury in the Euro 2004 semi-final against Greece.

There were fears that the midfielder would need to go under the knife but Bianconeri medics are confident that can be avoided.

The 2003 European Footballer of the Year has been ordered to rest, but he should be fine to meet up with the squad for pre-season training on July 23 as previously scheduled.

    Nedved boost for Juve
    Monday, 05 July 2004

    by Nadia Carminati :
Czech star Pavel Nedved has been told that the knee injury that ended his Euro 2004 campaign in the semi-final defeat to Greece is not as serious as first thought.
Nedved had tearfully talked of ending his career if the injury was bad, but the influential Czech Republic international has been given good news.

Scans have shown that the Juventus man has not damaged the ligaments in his joint and will not need surgery.

This will be an enormous boost to Juventus' new coach Fabio Capello - who will look to build his side around Nedved.

Nedved is due to link up with Juventus at the end of July after a well-deserved rest following the European Championship.
