I think some are overly critical of higuain particularly since he didn't perform against Barcelona. For so long there has been criticism about how we don't spend big on individual players focus too much on depth over quality etc. But that summer our management took adavantage of clauses and bought the two best players of our biggest Italian rivals in Pjanic and Higuain. I think it is not unrelated to our managements primary goal being domestic competition and we did win a record # of scudettos and the coppa italia continuing an unreal level of domestic domination. For once this club did put out the money, we signed someone who was already considered one of the best in his position in the world. Higuain has achieved that domestic success. He scored vital goals and was the difference in close games in both the Serie A and Coppa but numerous tuzzers are not happy because we experiencing one of the risks in spending 90mil on a single player that we've been calling for the club to do for so long. It doesn't always work out how you want it to. spending a fortune on a player doesn't at all just guarantee success, the management took a gamble on a player and, so far, he has likely fulfilled the ambitions they had for him. Spending the kind of big money on one player we all want to happen doenst come with guarantees we would like.

Totally agree, Kyle. While management surely envisioned a top striker being a huge boost for CL, it definitely seems as though the Higuain move was made because they wanted the unprecedented domestic success. That record is going to be in the history books for a long, long time. Seems pretty clear when a team goes and purchases the best player from their two main rivals that they're trying to weaken the direct competition. Our management -- unlike some of our spoiled fans -- are not stupid. They fully realize that a club needs a huge amount of variables to go their way -- including a significant amount of luck -- to win a knock-out style tournament like the CL. You can't just buy the Champions League.

Sure, Higuain is struggling at the moment, and we'd all love to get more from him on the big stage, but he's not the one who decided to pay 90M to bring him to Juve. If people feel the need to lay the blame for that expenditure, they should go after Marotta, Paratici, Nedved, and Agnelli -- all of whom were on board for Gonzalo's move. Bit more difficult to criticize those guys though!

Spot on. Higuain is a great player but you definitely overpaid for him. We got CR7 for 4 mil. € more than you paid for Gonzalo. I think you will agree we did better business.

It's kinda like this: You save up money for 5 years to buy a great car. You take the bus every day for 5 years and then finally when you have enough money, you spend it on a tuned up Fiat Punto.

Different times and also not considering the huge gap in salary.

We signed Higuain not Messi.

Higuain was never a game changer on his own and needs service which we do not provide to him in close tight games against strong opposition yet people still scapegoat Higuain and €90 million

People who are crying over Higuain should ask themselves if there is any better striker than him that we could afford, having in mind both transfer fee and salaries.

Excuses, excuses. We bought Higuain to win the champions league.
Not convinced that's true, what part of our transfer strategy over the past 4 years has suggested that our main goal is the Champions League?

If that was the case, I would have expected more of a fight to keep Vidal, Pogba, Tevez...

The main goal of Juve is always Serie A and quarter final place in the CL. Marotta and Allegri have said as much. I think we want to win the CL badly, but don't get the impression it is our priority especially when you consider our net spending over these years.

Higuain has done an excellent job for us, he was a major part of us winning Serie A and getting to the CL final (yes he scored in big games v Napoli, Roma and a double in a CL semi-final).

He should be in better shape, but if we create chances he will score. The myth that he doesn't work hard is nonsense, he is unbelievably isolated at times up front and often tracks back. What chances has he squandered v Barcelona or Real Madrid? Dybala has been more disappointing for me in these "big games" than Higuain.

We bought him to make the team better and he did, he had great season last. Being hold to unreasonable expectations like being the reason we win CL is just retarded. And price is out of his control, was allways going to be significant overpayment, doesn't elevate or lessens his quality.

There couple clubs who have better strikers then him (Barca and Bayern), but they still did worse then us in CL. This is a team game, it's about time some of you eased off with this exaggerated gaping pussy whining about him constantly. And take him for what he is, top clinical scorer who needs service to deliver, nothing more nothing less.

That is true but he can be blamed for poor performances, not working hard, and especially for him being fat.

He would be far superior if he lost some weight. At Napoli he was not fat.
He is the same friggin weight he was in Napoli. It's with them he became this robust power forward specialist and less explosive.

It was less of joke issue in Napoli because whole attack was built around him and giving him service for 90 minutes. Even still you had an asshat president like ADL calling his own historic player fat.

Why would we buy players to make quarter finals? You know, you can build a team to win the CL and give yourself an even better chance to win Serie A. I highly doubt that Juve's directors would impose that kind of limit on the club. Higuain is meant to take us to the next level, not quarter finals.

He was good last year but it's true what they say about him. He's just one of those players that go missing in the biggest games. Has he ever not choked in a final? He has been isolated at times which is why he doesn't contribute to play as much. I would prefer a Higuain - Dybala duo with Bernardeschi behind.
