As I said many times before, even when he doesn't score the guy can contribute. His play outside the box (when on good form) is vastly underrated around here.

His touch and link up play is right up there with the best of them. Especially for a forward he does it really well. Just at times I get annoyed with him when he decides to get brave wanting to dribble past defenders thinking he’s Ronaldo but with a parachute attached.

Hes pretty good at that too. Hes deceptively quick, has low center of gravity and nobody muscles him off the ball. Its not pretty but it works often enough

Mandzukic as the lone CF, or a change of formation with a false nine. There's no harm in trying something new. We slowly departed from the 3-5-2 setup after Conte's defection, and maybe it's time we adopted a new formation, albeit gradually.
Mandzukic is absolutely not clinical at all. Despite his goal last game his finishing has been utter shit this season and bad for a while now. Dont forget higuain still scored 30 goals last season...mandzukic even at cf wont reach 30 in two seasons let alone one

I'm not endorsing it as a permanent switch. Let's try and do something different and see what happens, since we are clearly stagnating and looking clueless with our playing style now.

It's not down to Higuaín. He is still comfortably better at CF than Mandzukic. Stop having too many chilli flakes in your meal daddy

Mandzukic is enjoying so much success with late runs into the box because he's not the focal point in attack. Put him up front for a string of games, with the attention of CBs and a holding mid instead of a winger (usually half a foot shorter than he is) and he'll go back to being the same striker that was not prolific enough for Bayern or Atletico, or Juve.

He's a very useful player to have on the pitch, just not as the main guy.

I agree we're looking so clueless and stagnant in attack with almost no fluidity but that's on the team and our approach to games. If we had an actual consistent starting XI which hasn't happened due to our constant selling of players AND injuries we'd look a lot smoother. As it stands our midfield and wings change completely practically every game and the understanding between our midfield and attack, and our attack in general is pretty shit relative to our status as an elite team.

He was the main guy when Bayern was unplayable under Don Jupp, and most likely would still be at Bayern if it wasn't for Pep treating him like shit.

At atletico he was still pretty decent (17 goals or something?), although not fitting into their counter attacking style of football. Hardly his fault he isn't a Diego Costa.

But yeah, leave him on the wing. He's great there.

Yeah prime Mandzu was good enough to lead our line. He ain't prime Mandzu any more. He was never super clinical but his finishing has just become redundant. The signs were there later on at Atletico and Bayern never exactly made a mistake. Lewa is a much better striker but i'd label Mandzukic as a wide forward now.

Mandzukic is better than most wingers. The only place he gives up anything is pace, but he makes up for it with his ability to hold possession. He's also much better in the box and in the air than most wingers. Defensive contribution doesn't need to be talked about.

Higuain haters are annoying. There is no position that gets more unfairly criticized than a 9. Most 9s rely on their teammates for service, it's not higuains fault he's not getting it. 9s get the big bucks because they can finish better than anyone on the planet. Higuain is a lethal finisher. The last two games he's had chances that were stopped by world class saves. That's not on him.

But its true that we are not creating enough or playing fluid.

We ahve some issues to fix all over the place. Is not as easy as to blame thje fatman or whoever. Allegri needs to make varios fixes because this is like a vicious circle that is hurting everyone. I would bet my house that in current napoli, you take out mertens and put higuain, and he would be scoring for fun. Is not him, its tthe team that is malfunctioning and that is the responsability of the coach.

Injuries are a problem but is not and excuse for what we are seeing.
