Or it's the type of sum to invest in that last missing ingredient to become a CL favourite for the next 3-4 years.... Since calciopoli we haven't been in this situation until the end of last season and this year, where we can compete with and beat the Top 3-4 clubs in Europe. We're there now, and only maybe a world class striker away from even being favoured against them. Making it to CL semifinals or better for the next 2-3 years straight would increase our revenue in every single area, and potentially be beneficial to Exor and its group of companies in the long term.
This. But its a big decision to make, so we cannot be certain, but what you say definatly qualifies as a good possibility

So, napoli is said to have two plans for him, but refuses to negotiate with us. De Lau posturing for the fans, basically.

Higuain has a much stronger position in saying 'fuck off i'm not comming back if you dont negotiate", and Napoli is royally fucked if he'd see that trough.

They have to negotiate

Take it or leave it but when the rumor broke out, calciomercato said exor is ready to fund Higuain transfer. But its calciomercato.

I also saw one guy on twitter citing TS and GDS as the sources saying exor want a marquee name to promote jeep or something along those lines

Isnt Pogba a bigger name and more markettable ?
