Only reason he wouldnt get it is WC, and that can only be for spanish players, and only one who has enough vital contribution there to even remotely rival his overall year is Xavi, no one else.

For someone that has all those statistics, what a huge disappointment when it really mattered.

Why Sneijder? I swear his last season is so massively overrated, I expect because he turned his career around (people who were calling him cack undeservedly suddenly saw he is a good player etc). But yeah pretty average/half decent league season (only thing standout about was him being in winning team, would rank atleast 4-5 over him in his team), real excellent CL he stepped up there for sure, but not the most important there either (Milito would been bigger candidate because he was great in league AND CL). And WC he had couple of good games and mainly scoring, but nothing to even remotely make him a clear candidate (Holland was bit meh).

Plus has been quite poor this half season for Inter. So yeah, I'm bewildered why he would be considered that big of a candidate. I'm glad Holland lost the final, because I expect it would been the predictable travesty of him being seen as the best player in the world for this year? Would been laughable. He has not had a consistent top season, he has a top CL campaign, thats mainly it.

And statistic, you mean Messi? You win titles as a team, and Argentina's was a laugh as a team, and Barca were outmatched AS a team. Inter didnt win against Messi, they won against Barca, and Inter didnt win against Barca because of Snejder, but by being a totally imposing and tactically perfect team. Despite not winning the title, Messi is like 3 times the player Sneijder is, and Xavi is superior to him in every single way (top league season, WC and decent CL) except when it comes to shooting.
