why? if he did it at atm and villareal why not? he ain't a primadonna like cassano...
He's like what 31 years old? His WC was his best performance I don't see him giving anymore than what he has given in South Africa.

He was never considered at the highest level, he failed at Manchester United and I don't see him doing well at any other top club.

Villareal and Atletico suits him perfectly.

he always had the skills and scored a lot...manure is history for him, it was like 6 years ago (same situation that cassano has) I don't see him doing well at chelsea because they play with one high push striker (drogba) and you need a big st that knows how to use his body, so forlan ain't that kind. But i see him doing well at real, liverpool, inter or even at juve. Age is not a problem, just ask ale :D

I was talking about the fact that he wasn't nominated among the 20 candidates. FIFA had no excuse anyway, but if Milito scores a winning goal in the CWC, the same way he scored in the scudetto winning match, the Coppa Italia final and the CL winning match, then the humiliation will be complete.

I didn't know that they didn't nominate him in the top 20, thats taking it way too far. I don't know what you guys are complaining about though, these individual jokes have always been a joke, personally i don't take them very seriously.

At the same time I am dying to know what did Messi do more than Milito. In comparison, Messi did play in the World Cup and it was ax extremely pleasant image for me, especially against Germany.
I can understand your point of view on Messi, the other day you said you haven't watched a Liga game in ages, and thats where he ripped teams apart, and not only the small teams, even teams like Real Madrid(with Mourinho too), Valencia, Athletico and Sevilla didn't escape his wrath. In the CL he played poorly against a very organized Inter team, but other than those two games he was amazing in the CL. Plus the guy scored more club goals than anyone else, and if you want to say the Liga has terrible defenders, well he scored in this calender year more CL goals than anyone else too.

there is no comparison between messi and milito at the world cup..nothing out of the ordinary from both of them...messi scored like 35 goals and milito 20, but as alen said, milito's goals were so important for them in winning those trophies.
Which makes Milito a better candidate but in the end Messi made to the top 3 while Milito did not make the top 20.

A few years ago Dario Hubner would have qualified to be up there using your logic. Purleeez, not because you like the player you have the urge to defend him, his presence in the top 3 is bullshit, I know it, many others know it and the likes of you (deep down) know it too.

Know what? I like Messi, he's one of the few Barca players i like after last summer, but i like a lot of players more than i like him, you don't see me putting their names up here. I watch him every week, and the way he rips teams apart, imo he is easily ability wise the best in the world, if it wasn't for him playing poorly in the big games at the WC(Greece and Germany) i would have said he was the best in the world, ahead of Xavi. His presence in the top 3 is imo unquestionable. You brought up Dario Hubner, Hubner scored a lot of goals for one or two seasons, Messi is doing it every season. He scored 34 goals in the league last season, thats an incredible feat. He scored more goals than anyone else in the CL this calender year, how do you explain that? He is scoring more than anyone at club level than anyone else, and at the same time he makes a mockery out of most opposition defenders, he also creates a lot of goals.

Did he score outside the Serie A, notice how i already anticipated these sort of responses in my original post, i said "Plus the guy scored more club goals than anyone else, and if you want to say the Liga has terrible defenders, well he scored in this calender year more CL goals than anyone else too."

Its kinda cute how you guys conveniently skipped that part though.

and it isn't about goals, if i say that at the club level he offers more consistency and much better performances than anyone else, thats not going to register with any of you, as that is all very subjective, that is why i tried to use as much "objective data" as possible in my argument.

Yup, he wasn't nominated at all. But Asamoah Gyan made the shortlist.
Right in that very moment it was crystal clear that all this is one big joke.
It wasn't a joke before? Its always been a joke, even if they get the best player right every now and then, the overall list and the rankings are laughable most of the time. I don't think the award has a lot of credibility with most knowldgable fans that watch football week in week out.

But France football was very respected and generally they got it right.
It was like that simply because they made a list of 40-50 players (That way you can't miss out on including the best ~20) and respected football journalists all around the world voted for the best players according to them.

FIFA was a joke most of the time, true.

So, this year they decided to merge and I expected that France football's influence will be felt somehow, but it turned out that it was all FIFA and the whole thing was conducted the same way FIFA conducted their yearly award. There is not even F from France Football in all this.

Which goal is more important? a 1-0 goal or a hattrick in a 5-0 win?

There are no rules in football, what if the hatrick was the reason that team won 5-0 and without it they might not have won the game?

That way the hatrick is better, because not only did he win his team the match, he allowed his team to demolish the opposition.

Which is more important to demolish 6 opponents and then lose in the final or to win 1-0:s against all opponents and lift a trophy?
