midfield and a rb was equally a priority too. yet we've so far neglected the first bit and signed a crap rb and now a central defender should be added to that list of priority with bonucci gone, crap or not there's not harmony or leadership at the back anymore

All these from the list were not available or too expensive - Sanches, Modric, Kroos, Vidal, Matic, Kante, Verratti, Rakitic while we lose fight for Tolisso, probably Bakayoko, who else? Andre Gomes is bad, Matuidi is not the same Matuidi that was 2 years ago, so you either have to invest huge amount of money into young and promising CM (like Bayern did with Tolisso, and with Thiago 2 years ago) or sign guys like Matuidi, Gomes, Strootman or whoever who won't be an upgrade but just another decent team player and an option to your manager, nothing more, nothing less

Sometimes you have to overpay a bit to get quality that would otherwise not be "available." We've made big sales and we've made HUGE amounts of money in the Champions League, it's not as if we're poor anymore. Neymar wasn't "available" at first either, but look how that worked out. Obviously that's an extreme example, but you get my point. If we could do it for Higuain, we can do it to fill another huge hole in our squad too. Yes, we also still have a surplus from this summer transfer campagin +£3.33m and of course we have money to spend but like i said there are no options on the market for the money that we'd like to spend

If you look at the market then you will see that Sanches was available for +-30-40m which is unfair price, Bakayoko cost 40m to Chelsea, Tolisso cost 40m to Bayern, Matic cost 40m to ManUTd while Juventus are after guys like N'zonzi (Sevilla wants 40m), Andre Gomes (Barcelona wants 20-25m atleast), Matuidi (PSG wants 25-30m), Strootman (not for sale according to Monchi but it's all up to right price and im pretty sure they will accept 40m offer but we will never pay it) but non of them are better players than Marchisio, Khedira or Pjanic at their peak form, that's the huge problem
