Give him until the end of the summer. I've always questioned Marotta, but this has been a pretty good mercato; with the depth we've got, suitable for multiple formations, we should be able to react and adjust to our opponents in game quite well. Too bad Conte's not there to make those slick moves, but I'm sure he and Carrera are working closely.

Always my favorite transfer of the summer, but I didn't expect to see a performance like that from Asamoah today at LWB. I knew he could do a job, but he really left a mark. It will be interesting to see how we reinforce at that position. With the utility players we have, we might be better served to spend that money on the attack. Provided he can continue to play like he did today - we'll see - I sure don't want to see Kojo on the bench. And there's no reason to bench any of MVP. Asamoah, De Ceglie, Giac, Padoin... might be able to get by with the committee approach, and it'll open some more time in midfield for our young players too. We can always reinforce in January, if need be (although CL eligibility might complicate things). And of course it will be interesting to see how Isla fits into all of this... really looking forward to it.

Hopefully Beppe finds us a quality striker with some pace... or just goes and buys Jojo

Just high, and enjoyed the match; lots of minor issues, but I feel like this club is really building something special.

We've spend a lot of money, but I'm liking the mix. So much versatility in this lineup.

I don't care what the situation is in Serie A these days but as long as a club has the money (PSG for example) they can sign almost "any" player out there. As simple as that.

I'm not hating on Marotta, but whereas Secco overpaid for players (average and above average ones), this guy seems to think that he can get top quality at the discount store, with his penny pinching, failure to prioritize, and obsession with negotiating at his own terms (and unwillingness to compromise).

Yes, he has done well, but it doesn't absolve him from responsibility and/or criticism.

I just have a feeling that he still has a provincial mentality; He's definitely no Moggi (even though he made more than his fair share of questionable decisions), but he has done well, but I expect more because we are Juventus.

Llorente is not a top player, but I'd be satisfied with Llorente and Armero/Kolarov to end our Mercato. I expect more as we are Juventus, but I understand that times have changed and Serie A has lost a lot of appeal over the course of the past few years.

No. I think we should sign Jovetic and Higuain/Cavani in the coming two seasons, and have an attack that will see us challenge for the next 10 years. I'm thinking long term; invest a little more now, and have an awesome team for a long time to come. When you win more, you generate more income, especially in Europe.

I like Llorente and think he's a very good player, but I have a feeling he won't do as well as some of you think were he to come here.

Someone will probably bring up Martínez, but it's been his successful strategy.

Surely he'd believe in his current plan, of purchasing players for as little as possible, and building an unbeaten Serie A title winning team out of it? Guys like Pirlo, Barzagli, Lichtsteiner and Vidal are all bargains in this European market.

I'd also like to point out that we finished 7'th in his first full season here in charge, so the hiring of Conte (coupled with the fact that we had no European football, were somewhat of a surprise/unknown entity last season, and the Marotta factor as well) also played a major part in our success.

Now that we have European football and just finished the season unbeaten in Serie A, I'd like to believe that we can attract top quality, quality that will allow us to compete in Europe and maintain our place at the summit of Serie A. We have CL football this season, are no longer an unknown quantity/surprise package, and as a result things are going to be much tougher. If you want to win (or at least be competitive in Europe), you need to invest in quality, or risk being left behind, as more than 80% of the time the team with the better players wins.

Yes, but as it turns out a lot of those players in the first season would actually still play protagonists in last season's success. I don't think Marotta is perfect at all and if it came down to it he should probably give up and spend money on the centre forward this team is screaming for. Good to have someone that won't make long term damage to this team to the extent that Secco did, just because price is irrelevant (apparently) when you're purchasing quality.

There's nothing I disagree with here. Quality can come in the form of someone like Llorente, if he turns up and scores 25 goals for Juventus next season.

Least not forget our budding youth academy is full of some talent. Our youth policy also goes along with this transfer strategy I'd say.

Our youth setup is going to be very strong in the coming years.

Buying youth players isn't enough though.

I like Appelt, but where will he be in 5 years? That's the biggest struggle with developing your own players, and Italian clubs don't have a reserve league or B teams.
