i dont think its fair to jugde marotta on selling amauri and some of the other high earning poor performing players. They are oviously next to impossible to sell. only mental managers would want them now...
He's obviously asking for too much money for Amauri (and others), though. These guys have a right to get paid the money that their contracts stipulate, even if the fans fucking hate it. It's all part of the Secco nightmare. But players still have to be disposed of, so they don't poison the environment; this team is obviously trying to change it's recent culture.
Amauri makes 4.2M. I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that with the Italian tax structure that amount effectively doubles to over 8. That's already a ton of cash for Amauri. The player could restructure his contract for a new transaction, but if he doesn't want to (I can understand why he wouldn't want to give up millions of dollars - especially at his age), what do we do?
If we try and sell him in January, by the figures above we'll have already paid 4M or so dollars for his services this year. I couldn't see us possibly getting 4M for a player with 1/2 a year left on his contract! At that point even if a miracle happened and we sold him at 4M, we'd only be breaking even on his cost to the club for this season. At this point, if we recoup any money on an Amauri transaction at all, I'll be surprised, and consider it a job well done.
Parma wants him, I'm pretty sure he said he would restructure his deal to play there, we should be trying to work something out with them.
There's only a week left, and so much shit to do.
