Someone needs to be accountable for the resources spent. When you buy a player like Elia for 11m, Isla for 18m and he has featured in a couple of matches all season, then either you're not in tune with what the coach is asking for, or the coach is having a free run with the clubs money. But if at the end of it, you claim you have no money for a striker, then you had better be accountable. Asamoah is bought for 18m, first im assuming as a CM, but then used out wide left to solve the issue of LwB. But later n the season we buy Peluso and bench Asamoah. Some issues maybe related to form, others to tactics, but we don't seem to be thinking our mercato through. I don't know how far it's true when people say Conte wants control of the mercato and that's why him and Marrotta don't get along, but somebody needs to be handling our resources better.

We haven't paid €18m for Isla and Asamoah. We may, may not, but that money cannot have been put towards a striker instead as half of it hasn't actually been spent.

Peluso was needed and has been useful.

Don't ever expect a coach to be in charge of transfers in Italy, it just isn't happening. He can have a big say, but it's not their role.

It's not about the money being spent. It is the allocation of where it is likely to be spent. If Peluso was needed, then why wasn't he bought in the summer mercato?

Even if we put Asamoah being a 9-18m asset on the bench, due to form, you can't help but consider that he was actually bought as a CM first before being converted to an LwB and doing that job. And then we have Isla who can hardly get a game. Dunno about you but it does beg the question, as to how in agreement the coach and directors of this club are when making mercato decisions. Assuming we buy Peluso for the LwB, are we then assuming Asamoah is going to hang around here as a 5th mid sub or 2nd LWB?!

I dont care who is in charge of transfers, but there seems to be a gap in our thinking where nobody is being held accountable for how our money is being spent. If we don't have money for an attacker which is our top priority, then it certainly can't be because we're spending it on positions we arent sure we are covering in the first place. Who should be taking the blame for this??
