I don't think The Society exists, it's just something someone created for lack of arguments. As for Marotta I am far from being a fan but at the same time I cannot but admire quite a lot of his operations.

I meant in context to Juventus. Quag was sitting on the bench when Juve did the deal with Napoli coz Cavani had already been bought. He was not the 'form' player at that point. Yes, we paid in the region of 15.5m for him, when he had scored about 10-11 goals for Napoli. This was largely due to the fact that Diego and Trezeuguet had been offloaded and we'd been rejected by the illustrious 7m euro worth DiNatale. There was a bit of panic since it was a last minute deal.
The same thing happened with Matri. He had had a decent spell with Cagliari that season, but Quag's season ending injury meant dipping into the January mercato, and let's not forget it was a deal made at the nth hour, while Luca Toni had been signed earlier in that winter ercato. Cagliari knew we didn't have too many options.
I don't quite agree with the latter half of your post. Matri more or leas scored as many goals for Juve in the second half of the season as he did with Cagliari in the first half. And last season too he had 9-10 goals before being benched inexplicably. Quag wouldve easily outscored his Napoli stint in his first season here and would probably do it this season as well but neither will sell anywhere close to what we paid for them. Age may have a bearing in Quag's case, but it's also mercato valuation and a team's situation that could create an inflated price scenario.
