I think we've spent the money a bit weird this summer. Personally I think this team needs quality players. Instead of spending all that 75 million on the players we've spent them on, I would have spent them on more quality players. Get me Mata(25m), Vucinic(15m), Vidal(10.5m) and Falcao(25m) and add Pirlo, Pazienza and Ziegler for free then I could live without Licht, Quag, Pepe, Matri and Motta if it meant having Falcao and Mata here. Whats more important, those guys we spent the actual money on, or bringing in two quality players like for example Mata and Falcao?
And if its true that we really do plan on spending more money on this mercato on a new LW then we could use that money to fill the right back position. As I said, this teams lacks quality, not width. Too bad, like last summer, we opted for width again.

Like a few people have said before, we're doing the mercato we should've done last year. We're building a decent / good squad without any real gaps, which should get us European football. Then the next year you're supposed to add true quality, top players, but only 1 or 2, as they would come expensive and go from there.
Personally, if we get a proper LW and a good CB, I think the mercato was fine as it was as a whole. Most stars were simply unrealistic and you can blame the board for giving us that hope. We have filled plenty of gaps and should now slowly start hoping and praying Conte manages to get us up there.
I'm not saying Marotta did a great job, as plenty of mistakes were made, but in the end.. I think we have ourselves a decent group of players.

However, there was no need to lie the fans and say he'll sign champions and players at Aguero's level. Nice deception that was, but it was rather lame.
But do we have a good squad? I don't think so. 4-4-2 with Vidal - Pirlo will be rather weak and unconvincing against many teams. We don't have a left winger (even if we sign Vargas it's just terrible) and our left back is mediocre. If Bonucci - Chiellini pair doesn't step on whole other level then we'll see many mistakes in our defense yet again, especially against high paced teams, when we'll see Lich get skinned as well. Selling Melo and not playing 4-3-3 was/is just stupid. I don't see this team getting into top 3 personally. We'll see if they pull a rabbit out of the hat till 31st August, though.

Vargas - Vidal - Pirlo - Krasic is just a very static and very predictable midfield IMO and it will be a painful season I think. They can all get shut down easily and there's no difference maker in that line. Ziegler behind?
Melo - Pirlo - Vidal was just a much better solution IMO, it provides a much better cover and we wouldn't suffer as much. Left wing should be a kick ass, I can't believe we're focused on Vargas.
