So he's an attacking fullback, but he became so attacking that he is now more of a midfielder then a defender? Sort of what happened to Zambrotta, only reversed. And didn't Diana start of as a right defender?
Chiellini is a good left back. When Fiorentina play a back four that is where he lines up but in recent games they've been going with a 3-4-1-2 or something like that and Giorgio suits the wide midfield role in that formation very well, just like most attacking full backs (a la Zambrotta, Roberto Carlos, Ashley Cole) tend to do. Chiellini could definitely change position if the coach wants him to. Aimo Diana and Amantino Mancini are good examples. Both were primarily right backs and are now midfielders.

If he adapt to change his position to midfield then why not.... cuz I think moving Zambro from LB position is not a right decision...

Chiellini: Viola opened Azzurri door Friday 25 March, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giorgio Chiellini says he wouldn’t be preparing to face Scotland on Saturday had he remained at Juventus.

The young defender joined Fiorentina on loan in August and has been rewarded for his outstanding season with promotion from the Under-21 set-up.

"If I had stayed at Juventus then I wouldn’t be here today," he said from the Azzurri training base. "I doubt that I would have been selected if I was still in Turin."

Chiellini is likely to start the World Cup qualifier given that Gianluca Zambrotta, who is ironically Juve’s first-choice left-back, is suspended.

"I never expected to have such a positive season," he added. "I know that I have worked hard and that will be proved if I play against Scotland tomorrow."

Chiellini could return to Turin in the summer, but his teammate Enzo Maresca insists he doesn’t want a Delle Alpi reunion.

The midfielder is also on loan in Florence from the Old Lady, but he seems to have had enough of the Italian giants.

"I want to stay a Viola," said the 25-year-old who has been shipped out on loan to numerous clubs in the past.

"Juventus? I hope they don’t win anything this season. That remark is aimed at the club and not the players."

Maresca will soon get a chance to prove a point when Juve travel to Florence after the international break.

sad that we won't see Maresca at Juventus anymore. I have always liked this guy, but i can understand him.

i really wonder if those two can coexist,
as far as i am concerned zambro had become left back from right half because we needed a fast left back and he could fit the job better than the rest and good enough,
i believe if thuram was LB zambro could bacome right back no problem,
if chiellini plays as LB only then zambro could change as RB and play them together,
add a nesta beside canna and u have the future italy s national back line=>everybody is happy

wow. did any1 of you watch the italian national game on saturday evening.... chiellini was the best man in pitch in the first half... it would be suicide if we let this guy go to the viola's.

chiellini - cannavaro-thuram-zambrotta

zambro is best on the right imo... but anyway... this would be good imo..

----Cassano-Trez-Zlatan
---Nedved-Emerson-Camo
Chiellini-Canna-Thuram-Zambro
-------------Buffon

:D

Forza Juventus !

If we sell trez, then we could use Mutu.. or just buy a new striker/forward :)

imo useing 3 forwards in a 4-3-3 is good as they can run back and help the midfield...

We'll never see a midfield consisting of only Camo, Nedved and Emerson though. Thank god for that too, as we'd be leaking holes and goals everywhere.

we should bring him back and trry n flip him with zambro put 1 at RB and 1 at LB....see who plays better where....i mean zambro is an amazing left back but hes not left footed imagine him on the right side...and put chiellini on the left where he plays for Italy...thats pretty powerful with Cannavaro and Thuram? Thats tuff man do it up Moggi!
