this is from milan web site:

PRESS SURVEY - GILARDINO: 'The Parma judge, that's all we need'
7/17/2005
MILAN - Gazzeta dello Sport reports an interview with Alberto Gilardino: ’Now the Parma judge, that's all we need! He explained that my contract will have to be pu up for a real auction. To be honest, I'm not so happy. I'm not an item of estate, a thing or an object. If nothing moves, I'll join Parma pre-season camp on Monday. But it will be different from what I had expected. And I'm really sorry for this. Fiorentina wanted to sign me, among the big clubs, no-one else made an offer for me. If it were not Milan, it will be bad for everyone: I'll leave as a free agent in 2007.'

If he stays in Parma I'm sure we'll sign him next year.
Which is the more logical solution instead of changing the whole forward line in one year.

Cause Milan like to play the same game as Juve, just when it looks like a transfer is dead and buried, they pull it off. And plus, Parma wont risk him leaving for nothing, any reasonable sized bid that came in, would be accepted. I guess its also means there is a chance another club could come in for him, unlikely Real, but perhaps Chelsea or Inter now.

My money is still on Milan.

Gilardino's contract expires in 2007.

I can see Galliani coughing up the extra cash to save some face and land the player they wanted in the 11th hour. Could be a big bluffing game from Parma's bankruptcy ownership to squeeze a few more Euros out of Gila on top of Milan's current offer.
