Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli is sure that he can convince the likes of Alex Del Piero and Gigi Buffon to stay at the club.

Del Piero was the latest Bianconero to state on Sunday that he wanted to understand the outfit’s plans before deciding his future, just as Gianluigi Buffon had reiterated the day before.

“Nothing must be taken for granted and everything still needs to be done,” said Cobolli Gigli to Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I can only confirm that Juventus’ intention is to keep our key players in Turin. We have an excellent relationship with them and we will meet them soon to discuss all their needs.”

Buffon had already hinted that he might join another club at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with Milan and Inter, but Del Piero’s words were unexpected.

“I was not surprised by his words though, as I said we cannot take anything for granted,” continued the chief.

“It is very difficult for me to imagine a Juventus without Del Piero. Maybe in 10 years’ time, but not now.

“It is normal for these great players to want to achieve great results and we are all working to help them do this.”

Buffon was praised by Carlo Ancelotti and Silvio Berlusconi after Juve’s defeat in the Trofeo Berlusconi on Saturday.

But this cannot be considered a sign that the world’s best goalkeeper is set to join the Rossoneri, according to the Juve President.

“I spoke to Berlusconi during the break and he was very nice. However, his statement on Buffon must be considered an appreciation of the player’s value, nothing more,” concluded Cobolli Gigli

Well, after meeting Berlusconi, Gigli should be reaching for his wallet to make sure it wasn't lifted.
