ROME (AFP) - Danish international midfielder Christian Poulsen signed for Serie A giants Juventus on Tuesday for 9.75million euros from Spanish outfit Sevilla, the buying club announced.

The 28-year-old, who will be paid 3million euros a year, said he was determined to prove Italian football fans wrong about his reputation.

"My dream is to surprise the Italian public and show them that rather than being the unpolished player they perceive me as being that I am in fact technically very sound," said Poulsen, who was part of the Sevilla side that won the 2007 UEFA Cup.

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said that Poulsen, who was formerly best known in Italy for being the player that Italy icon Francesco Totti spat at during Euro 2004, virtually rounded off his purchases for the upcoming season.

"I am delighted," commented Ranieri, who guided the 'Old Lady' into third place last season on their return to Serie A after being relegated in 2006 for their role in the matchfixing scandal.

"With the arrival of Poulsen, we now have 99 percent of the squad I want.

"All we are missing is a goalkeeper."

Ranieri is apparently keen on bringing Austrian international goalkeeper Alex Manninger from Serie A rivals Siena as backup to Italian number one Gianluigi Buffon.

The guy on TV who revealed Mister X as Poulsen said Juve will sign ANTONIO CHIMENTI if Belardi agrees to move to Udinese. :shocked2:

WTF??? 1st Juve said Belardi would be our 3rd keeper. 2nd Udinese have Handanovic and apparently Manninger. 3rd Why the hell would Manninger agree to go to Udinese to be backup and not Juve?

If Manninger really goes to Udine then the odd man out is Handonovic, not Chimenti.

We should go for Handanovic instead. After all the blunders and crap he said about us I don't want that f*cker Chimenti to play for us.

    That sounds very odd.

It would only make any sense if Udinese are trying to cash in on Handanovic.

    Still sounds quite unlikely.

I mean come on!!! Chimenti? Might as well keep Belardi or buy Stankovic and play him in nets no?

This rumor will be on tomorrows gazzetta and other papers so there might be some truth to it.

I can think of hundreds of keepers better than that douche.

We need a good backup keeper because we don't know what might happen to Gigi and his back. Can you see us playing in the CL vs a top club and have Chimenti in nets? IMPOSSIBLE!

Seriously, we have a bunch of clowns on board.

Obviously we should do better than Chimenti.

I was just trying to figure out how likely the other deals were to come off.

I guess they have an offer for Handanovic and they'll start Manninger.
