I'd prefer if Buffon got one or two reserve games under his belt before being thrown back into the first team. He'll need to rebuild confidence, agility, etc. for a couple of weeks. Throwing him in untested could see him make some errors and put pressure on him.

the viola away is a tough game i think if the situation arose that abbiatti should start and then maybe gigi could make his serie a come back in an easier game say the next one cagliari at home

my thought s exactly,in scotland stefan klos has been the main man for rangers for years,he was out for 8 months with an injury and was brought back for the celtic match,he was badly misplaced for the celtic goal and was dropped for the next match, this must really bash his confidence. i would hate to see this happen to gigi, lets ease him back in to the team

but we all know that Abbiati really sucks in air, Viola have Toni who could cause us problems. in set pieces .

i'd say a one arm Buffon is much better than our current goal keepers

Buffon Hails Strongest Juve Ever
11/23/2005 10:16:00 AM
The Biaonconeri’s goalkeeper also spoke about Del Piero and Ibrahimovic.
Gianluigi Buffon is back to train and his return to the playing field should be in early December. For the time being, he is watching his team-mates from the stands, appreciating their hard work, in particular that of Alessandro Del Piero.

“I often see him train, he’s fine, I like him, he’s tonic. He’s also fine in the head; he’s very confident and serene.”

Buffon has his ideas clear on who he would prefer between Luca Toni and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“I wouldn’t change Zlatan with anyone, he must just improve his coolness in front of goal."

The Italian international would however want to avoid three players in the next round of the Champions League.

“I won’t make team names, but as a goalkeeper I would prefer to avoid Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy.”

One final judgment on this Juventus side.

“Since I’ve been here, this is the strongest Juve ever.”

Buffon almost ready to return
Wednesday 23 November, 2005
Gigi Buffon has praised Christian Abbiati but admits he is just weeks away from replacing him in the Juventus goal.

Buffon has missed all of the season so far after undergoing shoulder surgery, but he revealed today that he’ll soon return to boss Fabio Capello’s disposal.

"My return is imminent," the goalkeeper, who is widely regarded as the best in the world, stated on Wednesday. "I should be back in the space of two or three games.

"I want to compliment Abbiati though for what he has done over these past few months.

"I hope he can stay here once I’m back, even if it is true to say that a goalkeeper like him deserves to play regularly."

Abbiati is only on loan in Turin after Milan offered him as a form of compensation, given that Buffon was injured in a pre-season friendly with the Rossoneri.

Although he is contracted to the Bianconeri until the end of the season, Abbiati – despite a few howlers at the Delle Alpi – has been linked with another move.

Palermo are just one club interested in the shot-stopper who recently appeared in goal for Italy against Holland and the Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Buffon has reassured nervous fans that Coach Capello is not about to leave for England or Spain.

"Will Capello join Real Madrid? These stories have appeared in order to destabilise the environment," he commented.

Buffon, the world’s most expensive ‘keeper following his £33m move in 2001, could return to the side for the Week 14 clash at Fiorentina or appear against Cagliari seven days later
