I think xGA is much more fair to use as it allows for some division between shots from 5m and 35m, here they all are just bundled together, so the type and quality of defense plays a really big role.

This season Donna is +7.84 (letting in almost 8 goals less than expected based on the xG model)
Gigi is +3.52
Woj is -3.19

Sure, its still just stats, but I think it paints a better picture than pure save %.
Pure save % is unrelaible, because it depends on the team.
A team like juve or a defensive minded one would make their Gk face less shots or shots with a lesser chance of succes than a team like benevento or sausolo for example.
When we were coached by max we would sometimes face so little few dangerous shots on goal that there were games when oposing team would convert their one and only one. I doubt that because it would have wrecked buffons's save % it would have mean that he is a poor Gk.

You are right but he is a great GK.
He tends to have blunders during a season so thats my one and only concern about him but he is young and will become even stronger.
If we can - We should.

If we don’t improve our midfield it won’t make a difference how good our goalie is

The problem I have with Donna, besides his agent and a strange face, is that I don't buy his supposedly greatest asset - his age. I don't see any benefits from his young age, as Raiola will transfer him out of Turin before the 31-yo Szczesny declines.

Barca apparently on him as well - according to reports they matched our 10M offer and would send Stegen to Dortmund.
Did I miss something? I thought Stegen is very good..

Sound smart on Milan`s behalf. Even if Donnarumma is very good, you just dont let a player extort you like this.
I guess he would stop around 12M after a few years as I dont believe any team will pay him more than that.
extort??? He’s a free agent. He has the right to ask for whatever he feels he’s worth. And if someone else is willing to pay it, more power to him. There’s no dirty business here. Milan just doesn’t value him as much as Juve allegedly does.

The best paid keeper in the world is De Gea with 19.8m gross salary which is a bit more than 10m net season.
Then comes the rest.
Neuer 7.6m
Oblack 7.1m
and so on and son.

Then we give 6.5m +2.5m to Szczesny :D whose the genius?

donnarumma is also six years younger than the youngest guy on that list. You’re not just paying him for what he is now.

I think its more about their financial power compared to us but he seems to be a bit greedy. I just hope he doesnt try this shit with us once we get him

Or prioritise that position as much. If your highest earner is a goalie, you're out of your mind. Milan wanted Donna but he should not be a top-5 earner

im really not blaming Milan for not prioritizing Donnarumma. I’m not even sure Juve should be paying him 10m+ per. But I’m also not gonna blame him for securing the bag. I wouldn’t hold it against Dybala if he
left for more money. I’d just be glad we weren’t the ones paying him.

with that said, I do like Donnarumma a lot and think he would upgrade and solidify a position for the foreseeable future. I think goalies are undervalued in regards to a squad’s defense. We saw what a difference Buffon made, even at his old ass age.
