Gianluigi Buffon at the 'Salone del Libro':

GARBAGE DUMPSTER - "One of the highest points of my career (laughs). Now that a few years have passed, I'm ashamed of the interview I did, of what I said. I was of a certain age, I represented someone, I was the captain. My fortunes or misfortunes depended only on me. But I must also say that if I could go back I would say the same things again. At that moment, managing to let that bitterness cool down, it wasn't just a lost match, it was something special, an epic comeback, in an epic stadium, with a group that had shown incredible character and unity, crazy people and dreamers. The day before the match we spoke to each other and that was the biggest disappointment. To this day, I still don't know why I was sent off and so the anger during the interviews was also for that. It was the best match I've been involved in"

FINAL CHAMPIONS - "I have a role, at this moment, that is federal and impartial. The truth is one: it would be right that the teams that truly deserve it win the matches and finals. Whoever deserves it between PSG and Inter will take it. I lost three finals, in none of the three did we deserve to win. With Real Madrid we deserved to lose, with Barcelona we reacted for a moment... The Champions League is a shame for the people of Juve, but it doesn't change anything for me, it means that in that moment the others were better"

Wow, he looks so small compared to Dollaruma. And Dollaruma is slouching.
No way it's only 4 cm between them as stated on various websites
Buffon and Luca Toni are listed as the same height. I've stood face to face with both of them, and Buffon was noticeably shorter.

I don't know the metric system without looking it up, but I'd say Buffon is closer to 6'2 or 6'3, while Toni was closer to 6'4 or 6'5.

Without ever actually seeing Donnarumma in person, I'd guess he's closer to 6'5 or 6'6

Yeah, I think Buffon is 6'2 as well. Thanks for the comment.

How did you happen to be face to face with him?

2011-12 preseason in New York. We were high school kids roaming New York and found out what hotel they were at and went there before they got on the bus for training in Central Park.

I just remember Toni being huge and Pirlo being a lot shorter than I expected.

It was before twitter/social media really took off, so there were probably no more than 30-40 people scattered around. The players were all very friendly and signed autographs and took pics, but we more hung out towards the outside and near the bus.

here are a few of the pics I still have. It was before the days where camera phones were good. I think I may have had a Blackberry still lol.
