Gigi Buffon admits he “didn’t think we’d put together nine straight wins, but I knew Juventus would be protagonists again.”

The Bianconeri had a dire start to the season, but their 2-1 victory at Sampdoria put them joint second with Inter, just two points off Winter Champions Napoli.

“I didn’t think we’d put together nine straight wins, but I knew we were a team with a lot of quality who still had to find their balance and recover some figures from the treatment room.

“In that case, I am not surprised by this comeback,” the captain told Sky Sport Italia.

Max Allegri was again enraged on the touchline, as after the 3-2 at Carpi Juve threatened to throw away a comfortable lead.

“It’s true we risked at the end. As long as we win, we smile and hope that we can learn from these incidents. It becomes difficult to overcome if it ends up costing us points, especially at this stage of the season.

“Are the opposition more scared of us? I have no idea, I just look at what my team does. I don’t know if we can win, but we are back to being protagonists.”

Buffon was congratulated, as he became a father for the third time this week.
