This is exactly the point. Buffon used to be a difference-maker, giving the team a 1 or 2-goal advantage by saving unstoppable shots.

Now he just saves what a keeper is expected to save.

Not something you can expect, the old Gigi might've pulled a wonder save - but it's by no means a given that he would've saved it. It would've been an incredible save.
