One of the very few mistakes I've seen Gigi make at his time here. Remember the red card he took vs Roma last season? That one was a good decision. This one was stupid and even though I understand its what most goalkeepers would have done on instinct, its still his mistake. And yes, we can argue all night, that red card put the team in a severe disadvantage. It was barely 10 mins and the team had to play almost the whole game with a man down. He's better than this and I'm sure he'll be the first one to put up his hand accepting his mistake.

Spot on.

There was no guarantee that that little rat would have scored had Buffon covered his goal rather than race out...very likely, but not definite. Either way, a goal down, so early in the game, away to lecce, with 11 players intact, is clearly a better situation than playing most the game with 10 players. I actually think we will be more solid with Storari back...and i hope that Del Neri has the balls to make buffon earn his place back, NOT give it back on a silver platter, after his suspension, on the basis of his form over the course of his glittering career. As he is rusty as hell, especially in the mind. Completely understandable, but we need a match sharp buffon or a match sharp storari.

As off as his mistake was, I was disappointed in Storari in his place. Gigi would have normally gotten a hand to one of those two goals.

Red card absolutely not his fault - defenders put him in that hard position - the handball was simply a keepers reflexes - whoever we have at the back seem to be practical jokes

:agree: Once back from his suspension, he should walk back in. I'd take Buffon in a wheelchair over any other keeper.

reflex sure but it was still his mistake. I was upset that we had to play with 10 men for such a lengthy time, but what's even worse is that our team looked like crap and very disheartened from the very beginning anyway .

I am not disappointed at Biffon at all, he had to do what he had to do as a Professional. The defense got ripped like always he had to do whatever it took to get that touch on that ball and protect the goal, last man standing. That's passion for his club knowing he has to sacrifice and do whatever it takes to deny a goal. Can't wait for your return Buffon bravo... Just loose the head wear.

Yeah, his sacrifice really helped us. He should have stayed in his box and waited, he would have had a bigger chance of savin the goal.

Buffon HAD to come out of his box and he HAD to save that shot because our pathetic defense put him in that position. Like we were going to have a different result had he stayed inside his box with Lecce 1-0 up. If you have to blame someone, blame the whole defense.
Anybody seriously blaming Gigi? The man was left alone by a a horrible offside trap and if he didn't step forward he would have seen Di Michele score.
well said guys

while i agree that the red card handicapped the team we were already looking like losing the game before Buffon got sent off,in fact as soon as that happened i turned the game off and went for a run. that said though any keeper in that position would do what he did,it is instinct and if he had just stoood there and been beaten we would have the usual lot on here saying he is past it,etc

he made a decision,he paid the penalty for it but he took one for the team 0-0 with 10 men is better than 1-0 down and looking clueless

Shit happens!.. Gigi know's better than us all, that he made a mistake.. As some say here, he could have stayed just 20 cm back and try to make a save from the boks.. Even if Lecce had scored, we would have had a very good chance at winning with Krasic in.. Anyway, he will move on and we should do the same.. No one doubt's the quality of Buffon, people just needs to chill and not take it to the heart when we say something "bad" about our legend..

Now lets hope the coach resigns or something happens.. I dont see us finishing 4'th with Del Neri
