Just took a quick look in the stat of Samp and Pazzo. I am only looking at his stat in Serie A. (the quality of teams in Europa can be very different and might not be very representative)

Pazzini got no score at all in the first 8weeks in Serie A and Interesting part is he picks up his scoring form after Cassano staying away from the squad. (Cassano was not called up since week 9)

then Pazzo scores 6goals in 8 games starting from week 9 or 5 goals in 4 games starting from week 13. (3 in the game against Lecce)

I think this is not unreasonable to guess that there were already something going wrong in Sampdoria before the problem really breaks out with Cassano. And actually Sampdoria had been doing quite bad as well back then (only 2 wins in 8 games with Cassano)

Conclusion is I would blame Sampdoria's form (or the problem with Cassano to be more specific) for his poor scoring stat in the first few weeks in Serie A. And looking at his record starting from week 9 (be it 6goal/8games or 5goal/4games) it is not bad at all. What is more important is his style of play actually fits Del Neri's tactics very well.

Both would be better than Jacky and Janet... Not exactly a big jump in class, but would definitely improve our forward line...

People here have lowered their standards so low that they're trying to convince themselves and others that Pazzini is a great player.

Obviously he's not world class but he's an improvement and what I was trying to say is he's not dependent on Cassano.

And fact is the number of world class finishers are so limited and there is no Trezeguet or Ibrahimovic or Vieri in the market. Who do you think we should sign to improve our attack?

I am pretty sure Vieri is on the market lol
We can bring him in if the price is right.

I want us to go back to before when we used to not consider Pazzini one of the best options for our attack in the market.

I'd take him with a heartbeat nowadays.

Mugs! the bottom line is Pazzini knows where the goal is. who we all expecting? Dzeko is gone.....lets move on. we need a proven goalscorer now, if not then we'll be entering europa league again and this time will lose to AEK pantyliners.

Stop being so damn snotty about the guy, its getting boring.

What are you talking about? Few weeks ago we were linked to the likes of Džeko, Benzema, etc. Excuse me for not wanting Pazzini instead of those players.

As of late, for reasons you should know, he became one of our better targets.

I feel like Pazzini would be the equivalent to Zalayeta pre-2006, no? Just a backup for the big boys.

Well, to be fair, Pazzini at the moment would start ahead any of our strikers without a problem. Zalayeta was a level below Iaquinta for us.
