Dooz you are dodging your own statements a lot here :D You say he wouldn't score past good defences, but he does, then you talk about him not creating enough? He is a centre forward, I guess Trezeguet was a big flop at Juve?
:p

He does? Dunno, I always see him score goals where he had no part in anything. Of course he's nothing creating, he's a poacher. He's limited as any other poacher.

But that's the deal. I don't mind poachers...but we can't take any average poacher, or put him in the same basket as Trezeguet, who's a world class player.

Say no to mediocrity - it should be our moto.

Somebody here mention 'el Khun' Aguero.... I am all for giving italians a chance and all, but if that guy was a possibility I would personally go break Pazzini's leg. We should never even think about it.
Benzema and a salary cut sounds tempting as well, but 2 keywords: how and much? Also I'd rate him higher than Pazzo deal. He wasn't a regular starter... in REAL MADRID. These guys have 11 forwards in their squad and his NT coach is ... well, to put it simply, an idiot.
Dzeko is better as well, but then Pazzini >>> Amauri, Iaquinta...

ok aguero wouldnt be my first choice, if you want to play a 4-2-3-1
and actually use the wingers, they are going to cross the ball. aguero is far to short to make use fo this.

Which I really don't understand.

There seem to be quite a few people who don't want us to buy any Italian players (for whatever reason). But at the same time we're criticizing Inter for playing with very little, if any, Italians. Go figure.

I guess I just don't understand the concept of an anti-Italian Juve fan. Just doesn't add up.
Part of it has to do with the lack of actual ITALIANS on these forums...Its the same as the stupidity I have seen regularly from a fair few members on here, regarding the apparent 'media exxageration' of certain English players like...Rooney. ALL of those same members are not English.

As for Pazzini...
Our attack needs transformation. That is, if we truly wish to START BUILDING a team that will climb back to the pinnacle of italian and european football. Trez will still have the talent to score a lot of goals, especially in a 4-4-2, but his body has been fucked for a while now, and he is a player whose talents will not shine unless he is fit and playing regularly. DP should be ushered into a substitutes role. He is amazingly fragile, and far too easy to keep away from goal. Amauri perhaps deserves a chance, in a 4-4-2 where he will receive a steady supply of crosses, but I would be happy to see him sold, as his mental state may never recover, at Juve, after surely the worst football season of his career...which leaves Iaquinta, who I want to stay, because when fit, he looked like our most potent forward this season. There is also Immobile...who I hope gets a chance to impress Marotta and Del Neri over the Summer, and I think he will, because he is italian and talented. I consider the same true for Giovinco, but I doubt he will be deployed on the left wing, especially if we are chasing Vargas. Vargas in front of Criscito or Kolarov, would be fine.

Pazzini scores goals. lots of them. He is very alert and naturally capable of running into the right areas, at the right time. Far from flambuoyant, he needs others who have flair around him...but he has been in fine form for the last two seasons, and is no doubt close to our new dynamic duo of Del Neri and Marotta. for 10-15m why not eh??? Especially if they try to push Giovinco into the Cassano role...

Agree with most of what my fellow Melbournian stated.

If Trezeguet and Amauri leave, which i hope both do...then Pazzani is more than welcome in the squad. That is not to say that i wouldnt consider another forward such as Dzeko. I think whilst our defence and midfield remain a high priority, our forwards need a revamping also.

The big ??? is Diego...if he isnt considered as a support striker, then i reckon he'll be looking for a new club. He wont fit in a 4-4-2 unless he plays as an ACM and buy someone with real class who can control the defensive side of that midfield. Still cant see it happening though.

Giovinco can still take the right side if Vargas does join. Its not completely out of the question. No others really rumoured...recently Pardoin has had a mention....unless Krasic is on the cards, Gio should still be a contender for that role.

While Pazzini is a good striker, the way I see it; if players like Dzeko are still on the line we should not be contemplating about players like Pazzo.

Why do people around here consider Dzeko(and players of similar quality) to be realistic options? I would love to have him but his transfer fee alone would take up half of our budget during a summer when that money needs to be distributed among various areas of the team. Not to mention that our not qualifying for the CL would probably end his desire to play here.

Pazzini is not one of the top forwards in the world but he is a class player and one of the best still within our budget.

Yeah, signing him would be near impossible, but I was just making a point. We should not be operating "under" the budget anymore and go from Xabi Alonso to Poulsen...

Personally, out of all the strikers in the world, I'd put all my efforts to get Benzema here on a loan + an option to buy. He's a WC player who is need of revitalizing his career and CL place will perhaps not pose much of a problem for him. He has an enormous wage in Madrid and they will have want to cut it a little, that's where a loan option would be feasible(we could pay off 30-40% of his wages for the duration of the loan). Than buy him for whatever it takes year after that because he'd raise us to a whole new level.

I would be all for loaning Benzema, even if we aren't likely to buy him at the end of next season it would get us a world class striker while allowing us to still have the necessary funds to improve other areas of the team. That way we aren't forced into signing a cheap striker this summer and can invest the proper amount next year.

I absolutely don't see why we wouldn't be able to sign him after a succesful season with us. Please don't mention we can't afford his wage because no one in the world will give him what Madrid is giving him. He would accept a 20-30% decrease with some clauses depending on performance, especially if we finish 1st, 2nd he scores 20 goals and gets into his NT again. That would still be a high wage but hell WC players deserve those.

Benzema will be hard to lure here even on loan. Dzeko is a hard task, benzema is impossible.

Pazzani and Diego upfront with DP and IQ as back ups would be probable.

indeed, even on loan he could go to a club of his choosing, and also one that is playing in CL.

Well if we're resolved we can no longer get WC players, than we might as well pursue players like Pazzini.
