Antonio Conte has every reason to be pleased after yesterday’s professional display saw the Bianconeri emerge with a priceless victory in Bergamo. Not only did he manage to nullify the threat posed by 12-goal German Denis, his substitutions also had the desired effect. Luca Marrone and Emanuele Giaccherini made a devastating impact on the game, combining perfectly for Juve’s second which ended any hopes of a Nerazzurri comeback.
The 26-year-old sought to play down his individual input, instead focusing on the team as a whole: “It was pleasing for me, but the goal is just an added bonus. The team, the group and the performance come first. My task is to be ready for whenever the manager needs me. I don’t get carried away when things go well, nor do I lose heart when they go badly. I believe I’ve developed greatly since I’ve been at Juve, and that’s thanks to the manager and team-mates who have helped me a lot.”
Giaccherini concluded by insisting the Bianconeri will continue to stick to the same group ethic: “If we’re top of the table it’s because all of us are pulling in the same direction. We’ve had an extraordinary first half of the season. We know that there’s a tough second half ahead of us, which we’ll face with the same mentality, taking things game by game. We want to continue in this way in order to go all the way.”
