Yeah, I watched the match and I was stunned with the quality of Stuttgart's attack. Werder was pushing forward too much forgetting there are holes in the defense which Stuttgart punished with 2 goals in 1
minute. What a striker Mario Gomez is. The guy is a beast, has enormous quality, I think we should consider making a bid for him. His finishing and movement is excellent.

At Bochum, the whole attacking play was focussed on him unlike the way Leverkusen plays. Moreover I think he had problems to fit into the team. The result were many poor performances in the first half of the season.

like most of these unproven strikers

look at zidan he scored 14 goals for mainz in just 17 games but in hamburg he is just a bench warmer

Huge win for Cottbus , apparently Van Buyten was a disgrace. Hitzfield must be biting his hand when he suspended Demichles but i guess he didn't have any choice.

Hamburg already got a big win against Dortmund and now both Leverkusan with Bremen could capitilize on that draw.

    Netzer: Germany Have Gone Backwards
Former German international and current TV pundit Günther Netzer believes the German national side has taken a step backwards since the 2006 World Cup when they performed so admirably under Jürgen Klinsmann

Netzer has also warned that fans expectations for this summer should not get to high even though they will start as one of the tournament favourites.

"The performances of the national team and the players are not the same as those in the last few years" he said in his column for 'Bild am Sonntag’.

"We would be deceiving ourselves by believing that everything will just slot into place. We need to be highly vigilant."

Former Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Stefan Effenberg also believes that the chances for the national team are being overestimated.

"You can not always hope that Germany come into their own in a major tournament" he explained.

"It was more than a clear signal that we only came second in our qualifying group."

Germany have a far from easy group in June with co-hosts Austria, neighbours Poland and the dangerous Croatia in their group.

i completely agree, another point is that different to Klinsi's time this team doesn't have any continuity or any familiarity and most of the players from the WC are not having a good season (ie schweni, fredirich, metzelder, lehmann, podolski)

I'm happy, I think he sucks. He's one of the most overrated players ever. He was the sole cause of 2 of Chelsea's goals about 3 years ago, since then, I've hated him.

With Demichelis and Lucio gone now, I hope we get someone sick.
I still doubt that Barcelona actually wants him. Why should they buy someone who is mostly crap? They can't be that blind, can they?
