I never asked him exactly what he meant, but you quoted about religion.
the way i see it, the god of which einstein believed in, or that a lot of other "rational" thinkers believe in is so removed from the world that whether or not it exists has no consequence. so if you are going to say that einstein believed in god, and be right about it, you need to qualify what kind of god he believed in. I used the word "religion" to mean the organized religion god, the god that people think cares about where you stick your penis.

I know what you're talking about. But I was just referring to supernatural being that created the universe. I'm not the religious zealot that you think I am, you know :D

What do you mean no consequence?

Wouldn't that mean that god started everything(created it all) and everything is his consequence now?

You deserved a warning for that message I -rep you. Should I always say something before i - or +rep someone? Isn't that why this system is there? I did leave my name didn't I?
you minus repped me for this

You told me that you're phd was in 3D imaging.......a phd is a phd, it is awarded for academic achievement. its like trying to find a difference between a ton of feathers and a ton of bricks. I dont just reference kermode because he has a phd in film. But because he has worked in the industry for over 20 years.

how that is anything to do with you i do not know, but you know fuck it - logic it out of the window with you.

If you want to get me told off for calling you a 'fucking moron' go for it, i dont care.

That he created everything, and is just sitting back, chilling and has no impact on anything anymore... kinda.
Yeah, but the word consequnce that bugged me? In this case everything would be his consequence wouldn't it?

assuming this god created everything, he also created rules of physics by which he made everything work, once he created these rules he didnt do anything else. we humans are in the process of understanding the rules and predicting the universe. if the universe is predictable, and there are no miracles i.e. breaks in the laws of physics, then god doesn't really do much now does he. which is why i said that weather or not he exists is a personal preference with no bearing on anything else. at the moment of creation if things were different they do not matter either, because they hold no bearing in predictions.

Ok, you got to understand this, i will put it simply to you, i don't care about you, I don't want anything to be told or done to you, go live your life, I realy don't care.

I know things pass with even worse thing said here but that statement is very insulting, at least it looked in my eyes like one.

We're not arguing about religion. We're arguing about whether it okay to discriminate against religious people if you think their beliefs are illogical.
I think its not okay. What about freedom of speech? You might think what they believe in is absolutely crazy but to each his own.

Yes, i do understand all this, and the choice about personal preference. But this 'god' realy is and does nothing now and haven't done anything but started everyhingm even creating the laws, wouldn't that make everythin around as consequnce of his being? I mean laws, planets, stars, 4dimensions and etc, everything was created by him?

I mean, I don't understand the part where you say that he has no consequence, but he starded it all placed rules and etc.

pray tell how what you minus repped me for is offensive, i have 4 of my housemates read and none of them get why you think it is offensive. I dont care that you did it, we are all just so fascinated by how you find it offensive.

late me give you an example. when a meteorologist predicts the weather for the next day, he collects some data, runs a model, analyzes the model and makes a prediction. he doesn't sacrifice a lamb or a virgin. that's why god, who allegedly created the atmosphere and all the rest, has no consequence.
