My point is that if he proves his potential, he will cost three times more that now. We could probably get him for cca. 5 million euros plus some co-owns and if he fulfills potential we get a great player, if he doesn't, we could still sell him for some minor loss.
In the end it depends on how much you rate him...in the games I watched him I was quite impressed.

If you are reffering to the Vidal Melo part.
We have invested 25mil on Melo, these 25mil are a strategical investment on a quality player.
If we had a 25mil player in every position, we would be title contenders.
Even if those players dont turned out to be wc, they are at least very competent to dominate serie A.
So we should rather invest on other spots every time we make such an investment, where we have player worthy 0.5-5mil as starters.

Because of our incompetent transfer director, when we try to sell a player, we cant make profit, regardless of his market value.
So there is yet another reason not to sell such an expensive player.
Because Melo was one of our best players, we risk to get someone who will not cope as good, why fix smth is aint broken?
so yet another reason not to mess with a 25mil investment.

I cannot stress out the importance of upgrading the weaklings enough. We are as strong as our weaker link, many times the team was working, but once our weakest link shattered, we crashed, to avoid this, we must set as the highest priority to replace our weaklings.
Melo is a fucking headcase,HE was one of our weakest links last year and on more than one occasion he lost the plot, leaving his team-mates covering for his moments of lunacy

i am glad we agree that we need to prioritise our weak links in the team, trust me i do....but for some reason you fail to see that Melo was one of those weak links,in fact because he is such a liability he was almost certainly the weakest link in midfield.

Yes but he may not reach the same potential at the end of the season with us because it's unlikely he would be a starter. Unless he isn't a starter at Bologna?

This I was have been saying to Cronios. Melo is not a player that we can trust when we are trying to build a stable team that can be added to. +Rep

Melo is a good player but he has mental problems
Its nice to have someone else than Melo but you have to admit the 10M could have been added to the budget of a defender or a winger

Bozi, he made some mistakes, but how many times did he mop up the mistakes of his INCREDIBLY weak teammates? The fullbacks? Bonucci? Any of the other mids? Our whole team was one big turnover machine - our possession play was right shit.

I have no idea how you can say Melo "was almost certainly the weakest link in midfield".

He had a better season and was EASILY more important to the team than Aquilani, Marchisio, Pepe, Martinez, Sissoko... if fact, I think the only midfielder we had that could even be in the argument for playing better than Melo was Krasic.

I know that Melo had his fair share of brain cramps, but most of them were from the previous season. Other than the Parma game, which a lot of people feel cost us the season - which is frankly fucking ridiculous - the guys was really solid. Once he was asked to simply protect the back line, and not distribute the ball, he was very effective. Some rash tackles, a few giveaways, but nobody is perfect - especially in that particular Juventus.

The guy only had 6 yellow cards and 1 red card as well - which a lot of people (maybe not you, but a great many) don't seem to realize.

Loaning Melo was sheer idiocy.

Its strange when I read such completely opposing views to myself, when I assume we have been watching the same games and the same Melo.

Other than Storari last season, Melo was the ONLY player in the squad, who played consistently at a high level. He fucked up in one game. But his disciplinary record was likely not one of the worst in the league, and anyone playing the swashbuckling midfield role is bound to get cards...kicking someone in the face was too much, of course, but i recall zidane performing similarly nasty attacks in his time with us.

Last season, melo was our best player. If you think he was one of our weakest links, how the hell do you judge the rest of the squad????

What happened here? From what I've read and heard, I'd much rather have this guy than Giaccherini. For fuck sake just make this one happen Marotta. There is no excuses. He is not asking for champions league, he's not asking for 10m a season, he doesn't cost 30 million, Man City doesn't want him. What other excuses have we heard so far? Just make this thing happen since he seems to have the potential to become a new Sanchez or Pastore instead of getting 26 year old Giaccherini.

Bologna doesn't want to sell until at least January.

Trust me, I want him more than any other LW that Juve are linked with at the moment, but Bologna isn't selling.
