Juve go ahead for Gallas Saturday 29 April, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s claimed that Juventus will pounce for William Gallas after Milan backed out of talks with the Chelsea star.

The French defender had been strongly linked with a free transfer to the Rossoneri at the end of this season, but it appears today that the San Siro side has decided to look elsewhere.

In exchange for Juve pulling out of its interest in Massimo Oddo, effectively handing the Lazio full-back to Carlo Ancelotti’s men, Milan will step aside in the race for Gallas.

It’s not the first time these two clubs have come to such an agreement, as both Juve director general Luciano Moggi and Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani have spoken of a ‘pact of non-aggression’ between them on the transfer market.

Italian newspapers suggest that a deal with Premiership Champions Chelsea will be completed by the middle of May.

Oddo, meanwhile, is set to step up negotiations with the Rossoneri, even if Lazio patron Claudio Lotito has no intention of selling the Italian international at a cut-down price what you think please discuss.

My 1st choice was Oddo, 2nd Alves, 3rd Zaccardo. I don't see other RB's available that could sart with Juve. Don't think Trabelsi is good enough to start for Juve. I could be wrong.

    ..

Trabelsi is a rock. I'd snap him immediatly if it was up to me. And he's much better than Oddo. Doesnt his contract expires this June?

Yeah, Trabelsi is a freebie. I think Clerc will go to Marseille. Don't think Real will sell Cicinho. Cassetti is a good choice but lacks in defensive cover.

I don't care what Italian newspapers say - Gallas will be staying at Chelsea. Mourinho has too much respect for him and understands what he needs to do to keep the Frenchman happy. This feeling is reciprocated (Gallas soon realised his worth - if even at full-back after that Barca match) and I expect Carvalho and Del Horno to be shown the door. Chelsea will use Gallas primarily as a centre-back with cover at right-back. Watch him as in matches like today and you realise his skill - sadly one which Juve will not acquire I don't think.
