Yai,in duel with Real,our chances are like Mig21bis's vs F18 superhornet....Yei!!!
And if they fail to buy the other super expensive transfers they were planning.
It would rather be like facing F22s

Seriously, we dont have any realistic chances to buy Alonso now.
He is even more expensive, Poll need him more and Real can offer much more!!
Considering him, is just a waste of time!

At least, we have realized, it is time to move away from Dago...

We should buy a cheaper alternative for the midfield and get started with looking after LB/RB and maybe even a CB.
:disagree: we tried that before and it ended being a horrible move. "Quality" is what this team need, no more "quantity". We either sign a player like D'agostino who can be an upgrade for the team or we stick with the same players we have in the midfield (camo, tiago being our alternatives to Dago) and we go after defenders this summer.

No more mediocore players for the love of God.......

I agree, no more mediocre players. Either spend the money on someone that will give us a jump in quality immediately otherwise just use up the players we have until their contract expires or we sell them to increase our funds. We already have a pretty solid team, we just need a coach that knows how to use them.

I would certainly give up on signing new RB if it means signing Alonso.

Cronios, you can start bashing me;)
The thing is people still don't understand that our main problem is Defense....

our midfield and striker may scored 5 goals per game, but if we concede 5 goals no point. I'd rather have silly goal and win 1-0 than having a beautiful football and end up with no trophies. So, if we really want to win we have to buy great defenderssssssssss !!!!

since when did our attack become like Barca and our defence become like Sporting Gijon?

If real wanted Xabi, they would have gotten him by now.

I think we can take him, not to mention he's a bigger and much more proven name than D'agostino thus I can understand spending more on him.

yeah Xabi has been playing at a high level for years now. Also he is proven in the EPL and CL against the best teams in the world. He plays regularly for the Spanish national team and has won titles at the club and international levels.

I think overall Alonso is underated by many and if we signed him we would be signing a player of the highest caliber.
I just doubt we have themoney to get him AND get the fullbacks we need. If we do then great .. get him

THats ridiculous. we dont need another DMC esp a mediocre one. We need to spend the money on quality full backs coz Molinaro, Grygera and Zebina are absolute rubbish.

I think Juventus has taken the high road on this one.

Udinese look like a bunch of bush league assholes right now. They grossly inflated the price of D'Agostino, made ludicrous demands, and then bitched to the press how Juventus were behaving improperly.

Now I suspect they will kick the tires on Xabi Alonso, but also some less desirable guys like Diarra, Ledesma, Montolivo and a couple other guys. However, I'm sure they also left a life line if Udinese decide to come to their senses, which after a few quiet weeks will happen. Unless AC Milan sells Pirlo, there's really nowhere else for him to go.

I think this one may still happen unless Liverpool bites on Xabi.

Yeah I can see this deal still going through. Udine were asking way too much in hopes of getting lucky. They saw what we had to offer and didn't like it but they'll be back. We're being linked with a host of other CMs/DMs now and they know they can't hold us for hostage. I think we were offering too much in our final offer anyway. 14m plus a player is a hell of a lot for this guy so they should have ran with it while they could.

By the start of the new season I think he'll be playing for us though. He apparently had an agreement with Udine that he'd be sold on to a bigger club when they come knocking. We want him, he wants us. If they try playing hard to get too much then they'll just be left with a disgruntled player who doesn't want to be there. Which could possibly lead to bad performances and devaluation. At the end of the day I think both clubs will do the smart thing and strike a deal. It will probably be later then sooner but that would work in our favor I think with us getting him cheaper.

No team has attack like barca, and that's something new to football. Our defense was always our key to succes, last 5 years we always scored an average 70 goals per season (only italian championship), so this year was 72 ;)

One thing i think Secco and em can learn from the D'Agostino saga is the need to have players who'll have some transfer value 3/4 yrs down the line...We spent some good money on Tiago,Poulsen and Almiron...Marchionni,Molinaro and Grygera were also stalwarts of the team, but none of them are worth much in terms of cash+player deals...there's no one knowckin down our door tryna sign any of them.
The players other clubs are after are Giovinco,Marchisio & De Ceglie

I hope the Board and Ciro will take the hint...those are the pillars of our future
