I think that if a deal would be concluded under Udinese`s reported requests it would be half of De Ceglie and half of Giovinco rather than Marchisio since we have Diego anyway

Juventus will not be casting Marchisio to the shadows. He will play a crucial role next season under the Ferrara regime. He will almost certainly get a large amount of playing time to account for the congested fixture list that lies ahead.
Serie A matches, Coppa Italia matches, Champions League matches, injuries/illnesses, suspensions and all sorts of things that provide opportunities to play in a gruelling campaign as a highly valued squad member over 9 long months.

Everybody has recognized that Claudio is midway now into becoming a future Italian international regular in the course of the next two to three years as his development satisfactorily develops.

We all must remember that for us to challenge for top honours there has to be a squad of 23/24 international class champions. That is why perhaps we are being reported as being interested in Maxwell, Lavezzi and others that will take us back to a position of pre-eminence in Italian football.

You would think so. That is logical as it would be helpful from a financial perspective.

However constant speculation linking us to Maxwell and other LB's tends to suggest he may not be returning to Turin.

Although I believe that a majority on this forum support Criscito as the 1st choice LB at Juve next season, something is beginning to niggle me that the club do not support this view. Of couse I may be well wide of the mark.

Whatever the situation, once they have wrapped up the D'Agostino deal, I am desperately hoping they address the defensive issues which really are pressing.

Gaetano D’Agostino confirms he is on the verge of signing for Juventus within the next couple of days.

“I said I wanted a big club and Juve are among the biggest,” smiled the Udinese midfielder.

The 27-year-old made his senior international debut in Italy’s 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland last night.

New Bianconeri Coach Ciro Ferrara was Marcello Lippi’s assistant manager until Friday, when he received the call from Turin and left the training camp.

“When Ferrara left the other day, he winked at me as he went out the door,” revealed D’Agostino.

Udinese are not so certain they want to release their star midfielder, having valued him at £28m.

President Giampaolo Pozzo has requested “two out of these players in exchange: Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie.”

Although Giovinco is unlikely to be released, the other two youth products are potentially on the market.

Losing any of the 3 players, we didnt lost for Amauri would be unacceptable! We should rather spend more ccash or even better scrap this transfer and buy some defenders first. And then we can use Tiago+Almiron asbargain chips, or use the money from their sale and any spare funds, left, AFTER, the acquisition of defenders!

Corriere reports that it's 6 m euro + 1/2 of De Ceglie + 1/2 of Paolucci and that Lanzafame may also be included in the deal, or rather 1/2 of Lanzafame which we own.

If we give them De Ceglie it's more likely we'll bring back Criscito or buy some good LB, so that's not a bad deal.

Little bit off topic but you guys were talking about Criscito as left back. In my opinion i think they bring him back as a CB. Picture this, Cannavaro and Legrottaglie are the old defenders. They could teach Criscito everything they want in one or two seasons. Then, when Legro and Canna stops (or being used as back-up), Criscito is ready to take over. In two years it will become Chiellini-Criscito.

Edit: And by the way, D'Agostino to Juve is perfect!

Sine we already have a decent first choice Camo Sissoko Marchionni and a decent alternative one Marchionni/Tiago poulsen C.Zanetti. I don't see the reasonthat this transfer is so esential, that would sacrifice of Marchisio and one more promising youngster Dc/Giovinco do get him. Why is he a priority? He is not anyway near Alonso's quality, or more promising than Marchisio. He is not a target of opportunity, he had the best season of his life, besides midfielders who sucked, in a team that underperformed. Overhyped and overpriced as ever and in age that indicates that he will never reach wc status. Why would we sacrifice two of our most proming youngters? Even DC, i believe in his potentisl and i wanted him back since we offloaded Molinaro. The favorism the cursed CR, showed to Moli could be proved lethal for DC's carrier now. I think that he is worthy of a real chance first!
