i'm hoping that the likes of Gasbaronni, Guzman, Brighi, Blasi, Pericard might be somehwere in the squad.

and in 2 years time, the likes of trez and di avio will still be around as they would be in their prime.

According to Raisport and Gazzetta, Lippi used a 3-4-1-2 when he had DP, Miccoli, Nedved and Trezeguet in the starting line-up. How does that work???????

-----------------Buffon------------------

----Birindelli---Legro---Iuliano-------

Appiah---Tacch---Nedved---Zambro

-----------------Miccoli-------------------

---------------Trez---DP-----------------

But that can't be right???!?!!

I would have thought he used a 4-2-3-1

------------------Buffon-------------------

Birindelli---Legro---Iuliano---Zambro

--------------Tacch---Appiah------------

----Miccoli-----Nedved-----Del Piero---

---------------Trezeguet-----------------

The other possibility with this formation could have been:

------------------Buffon------------------

Birindelli---Legro---Iuliano---Zambro

------Appiah---Tacch---Nedved-------

------------------Miccoli------------------

-------------Trez---Del Piero------------

I'd say the 4-3-1-2 formation still going strong. but the problem now is that we have Nedved and Miccoli in the same time. If Miccoli plays as AMC.. where do we put Nedved?

still, Lippi needs to arrange the midfiled lineup..

now that we got Davids, Miccoli, Camo, Nedved, Appiah, Tacchi.. and Maresca. whoa such a big guns we have here..

any suggestions which formation we have to use for this season? ;)

We have loads of options:

In central midfield we could use:

Appiah, Conte, Tacch, Maresca, Davids, Tudor

In attacking right we could use:

Camoranesi, Zambro, Miccoli, Appiah, Maresca or even Nedved

In attacking left we could use:

Nedved, Maresca, Davids, Zambro, Di Vaio

Playmakers?

Nedved, Miccoli, Del Piero, Maresca or Olivera (if he stays)

I.e.....There are soooo many options because we have so many good midfielders who can play in so many different positions.

So although we only have 25 players in our squad (compared to over 30 for Inter) - I feel we have more depth because of our flexibility.

Formation??? The permutations are truly endless. You name it....4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-3-1-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1, 3-4-1-2, 3-5-2, 4-3-2-1 etc etc we have the players for any one of them. There are not many teams in Europe that can boast that kind of tactical flexibility.

My choice would be the formation that contains our best players. Our best players are: DP, Nedved, Davids, Miccoli, Thuram, Zambro & Trez. For all of them to co-exist...I only see the following:

--------------------Buffon----------------

Thuram---Legro---Montero------------
------------------------------------Zambro
-------------Tacch---Davids--------------

--------Miccoli---Nedved-----------------
------------------------------Del Piero----
----------------------Trez------------------

The great thing about that formation is that it can change so easily during the game. Nedved & Miccoli can play on either flank, DP can play deeper. The 3 attacking midfielders can play anywhere behind Trez and their movement is hard for other teams to mark.
