Juventus isn't really a dream job for coaches at the moment. If we don't make it to CL, even getting someone like Benitez would be a lot more than expected.
I like to think that we still have the allure of the team of our total history. Not just the last few years. Also...there is the possibility of regeneration. And for a manager, taking an old giant, back to the top of the world pile, would definitely have some allure. To both old pros and up and coming eager newcomers...

Jasp...you make decent points, mate. I did not mention though, that he was not respected, by anyone but me, I thought??? I should read back first perhaps...Still, I agree with everything you wrote, and would like to know, what managers, other than the ones listed, you would consider, and like to see as our new King??? I mean...of ALL managers still breathing...using only a slight filter of 'who we could possibly get'.

Thx. You wrote he never seem to be respected as the boss of men. Maybe I understood it wrong. Nonetheless. Your question is really tough.

I must admit I can't point on a manager and say: This is the guy i want.

My first priority is the character, can he unite and keep the respect from our players. Secondly I want to see some more offensive football.

For the first priority I think Capello, Hiddink and Hitzfeld are my favourites. Maybe Wenger too. I see 11 guys out there, not a team. I want that most of all. With the exception of Wenger none of them play really great football.

I would also worry about Wenger cause I don't want to see Juve as talent factory for other clubs.

I can make a list that will stop me form complaining. Maybe someine else has something to add:

Happy List: Capello, Hitfeld, Hiddink, Benitez, Wenger, Prandelli, Blanc, Puel, Rehagel...

Benitez makes Liverpool ultimatum
Thursday 15 April, 2010
Juventus target Rafael Benitez will only stay at Liverpool if there are significant plans for investment this summer, according to his agent.

The Bianconeri have made hiring Benitez their No 1 priority, although they reportedly want a decision within the next 10 days.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS, Benitez's agent, Manuel Garcia Quillon said: “Rafa's intention is to respect his contract, but it's also true that the club appears unstable at the moment because of its financial situation.

“There is interest [in Liverpool] on behalf of a Chinese investor who has called Benitez, explaining that he will present an offer only if he stays on the bench.”

When asked about reported offers from Juve and Real Madrid, Quillon said: “For the moment, we have not received any requests.”

if its true that madrid are calling for benitez, i'm certain that madrid would be his first choice over us any day. which is fine with me, personally i cant stand him, as if we havn't pissed enough money up against the wall over the last 4 years, benitez is like secco but with a coaching badge

What better options are there now?
tbh there isnt. thats why im still pissed the board f*cked up on hiddink, and didnt opt for claudio gentile over zaccheroni. tbh for what its worth, mancini doesnt even sound like a bad idea, certainly i'd opt him ahead of allegri to say the least, and prandelli perhaps. Whilst i have a feeling gasperini will be sacked from genoa this summer to make way for francesco moriero who i've heard is highly admired by genoa and has built up quite a reputation as one of italy's upcomming managers, even so i dont feel gasperini is good enough for the Juve job

Massimiliano Allegri should be the very last option, should we fail to secure a deal with either Benitez or any other top quality coach. There's no point creating a top quality individual squad without someone experienced enough to make us a team.

Rafa rejected Juventus offer
Friday 16 April, 2010
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez rejected an offer to join Juventus in January, according to his agent Manuel Garcia Quillon.

Benitez is Juventus' No 1 choice to replace caretaker boss Alberto Zaccheroni this summer.

The Bianconeri have been consistently linked with him since Ciro Ferrara was fired three months ago.

“I have not received any interest [recently] from Juventus for Rafa Benitez,” Quillon said soon after it was announced that Tom Hicks and George Gillet had put Liverpool up for sale.

“I have received interest from Italian clubs for players but not for a Coach.

“Juve approached us back in January but we told them that the Coach would not be leaving Liverpool this season.”

When asked about Benitez's future, Quillon said: “Those are internal matters.”

There has been much speculation this week about Juventus giving Benitez a considerable transfer budget to sign his favourite players.

The Bianconeri are reportedly prepared to let him spend €200m on the likes of Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt.

Well at least now we know for a fact that they did try to get him.

The agent said he said no for this season. Like we expected Benitez to leave in January and join us  The fact that we did try should be heartening.
