I think most ppl was against letting go of Deschamps. I know I wass. But I was also happy to get rid of Ranieri and I think most ppl in here were.

Maybe he had our team overperforming most of the season, or maybe he for some reason lost the confidence of the players. But it was quite clear things were not working out.

The fact he is pushing for a title now, can't be part of that judgement.

Juventus have a €200m three-year plan to win the Italian championship, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The pink paper today leads with details of the outfit’s new project after their miserable 2009-10 campaign.

Juve were expected to compete for the Scudetto and Champions League this term, but have flopped badly and are in danger of not even qualifying for the Europa League.

A revolution is expected in Turin which will see a new Coach arrive during the summer, as well as an active buying and selling spree.

La Gazzetta insists that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is the club’s first choice as new boss, with recently axed Cagliari tactician Massimiliano Allegri and Fiorentina’s Cesare Prandelli alternatives.

Benitez, who is understood to have been given 10 days to accept or decline Juve’s offer, would then be assured of a €200m transfer budget during his three-year deal.

A third of that, if not more, will be spent during this summer with a new striker a top priority.

The options are Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko, Liverpool’s Fernando Torres and Giampaolo Pazzini of Sampdoria.

In midfield, Argentine international Javier Mascherano could follow Benitez out of Anfield as a replacement for Felipe Melo.

The latter, signed for over €20m in the summer from Fiorentina, has endured a problematic campaign in Turin and may be sold.

Benitez, or whoever is appointed, would also get a say on the future of creative Brazilian Diego.

The attacking midfielder arrived from Werder Bremen at the start of the season but he may be deemed as surplus to requirements if the new Coach wants to play with a 4-4-2 rather than with a fantasista.

Any money recouped over the sales of Melo and Diego would then be re-invested in new players.

we had some great results with ranieri..sthing that can definitely not be said this yr except when we beat inter at home

if anything the team,esp players like amauri and camo,played at much higher standards than they are now by lightyears when ranieri was in charge

Amauri didnt score from february until what october. A huge part of that was with Ranieri in charge. I agree Ranieri is much better than Ciro, but I don't think it was a mistake sacking him. We were on our way to not getting CL. Ciro and the honeymoon effect saved that. The fact that the board got blinded by that was an error imo.

if I was to compare his team to the one we have now, his was certainly more disciplined and compact...this one is just all over the place, even though we have significantly improved the starting lineup.

So...we are a failing former european giant. who are seeking as their top choice as new manager, a manager who has presided over spending more than anyone, relatively, in the club's history, and engineering a season, in which his team has failed to reach the champions league, failed to win anything...

it makes NO SENSE to enroll Benitez. regardless of my personal opinion of the man...no failing team employs as failing manager. Its simply logic. Not heart, just mind...

Think of our club as a business...whose success is winning...what businesses employ failing managers in other corporations??? only those who desire death. and failure.

Whoose the better coach, Prandelli, Allegri or Benitez ? The fact remains that it is a damn hard question to answer. So what does our club need ?

Imo. we need a good tactician (they all are), but first of all we need a personlity and a character. We(the players)need a reference point, and a long term solution. Benitez has won championships, he has brought stability to Liverpool (maybe not this season), and now he has experienced hardships. He knows how to manage a top club, with the ambition to win every game. I won't say one bad season makes him a failing manager.

Allegri he managed a team not expecting to perfom. How will he handle two losses from the get go? How will he manage big egos?

Prandelli, great coach, but has struggled in the league the same way as Benitez. he is somewhat of a character, but not in the same way as Benitez.

I think they are all qualified, but the one that has the best shot of get the respect from the players and rejuvenate their confidence is benitez > prandelli > allegri.

Pretty reasonable points right there .

Still we need new directors if we're seriously want to be at the top again (hiring a new coach alone won't solve everything).

Benitez has not won the english championship. He has come close once. WHilst spending throughout his tenure a huge waste of money. I see no players who have truly developed into better players under his tutelage. None. his best buy...Toress, was ALREADY world class. He has somply continued where he left off, in Spain. The others...no, no development, no improvement. Gerrard is in the period where a world class player should be peeking, and he has been for the last year or three...again, this was VERY evident, BEFORE Benitez arrived in scouseland.

His victory in the champions league was the luckiest I have seen of any team, in 15 years of watching champions league/european cup football. Not just in the final, for that was a wicked show of spirit, I mean HOW THEY GOT THERE...Also, to win in such a way against a german team, is VERY ODD, almost magical and unfathomable...or...extremely LUCKY.

He gets very easily riled by other managers. Never seems like a man who could be respected as a Boss of Men. HAs shown little tactical speciality in the time I have seen his Liverpool in England...and is coming off a terrible season. This is important to me. For the worst thing about our club is the spirit, the heart, the form of mind and soul...we need a Warrior. Not a recent loser, trying to regain his stride. We need a man who can demand better, demand the very best of ourselves, for its clearly what he demands of himself and all others he works with...this man, is not benitez.

Juventus isn't really a dream job for coaches at the moment. If we don't make it to CL, even getting someone like Benitez would be a lot more than expected.

No, Benitez has not won the english championship. And I will argue, that Liverpool have never had the team for winning it. I agree that the CL win with pool was extremely lucky. But nonetheless, he got there twice with Liverpool, which is an huge accomplishment.

I think the struggles of Liverpool could be metal fatigue, he needs a new challenge.
I too worry about the his transfers, but he won't be making them i the same way in Juve as in Liverpool.

He has been Liverpool manager for six years and yet you claim he is not respected. And they are still holding on to him despite their struggles. (I know there are financial issues here as wel, but still).

Liverpool have some af the old Juve spirit, they never gave up. Fought to the end which brought them far.

Lets take a guy like Blanc, his team hes gone down the last couple of months, losing everything the fought for this season. Yet he is still qualified. Allegri got sacked after 9 games without a win. He is deemed by most as qualified. Fiorentina are 8th in the league - not very good.

It seems that all candidates we are linked to atm has issues.

I won't say Benitez is the best manager of them. But I think he is the best bet. I think he has character and has his players are behind him. For the style of football Prandelli would be my man. As a whole package I think i'd go with Benitez.
