Here's an article saying no to Benitez but then offering Allegri, Gasperini and Prandelli all as better candidates.

Absolute retardation and bias.
I don't know. I'll agree that Allegri is nowhere near Benitez. As for the other three, well, all of them are coaches, who had a string of good seasons, and are now having a bad one. The question with all three is, whether it is a bad season, or whether they simply ran out of steam.

Today, there are all sorts of suggestions that Juventus have given the Fat Spaniard a one-week deadline to accept or reject the job.
This sounds terribly personal, can't believe a serious blogger would include a coaches weight in the article. I'm sure he wasn't fussed when Fat Moggi was buying us Zidane, Nedved, Buffon etc.

We've been over this time and time again. The majority of his big name signings have turned out well, as in Xabi and Torres, and he did well in bringing Agger and Skrtel to the club. The majority of the signings that did not work out, as in Josemi and Nunez, were for limited sums and were also young players who were always going to be a risk.

IMO, this topic is overhyped, especially when Keane was wanted by the general manager and not so much by Benitez himself.

Exactly, but the person who wrote it is a staunch fan of the Azzurri and isn't known for liking Spaniards.

Word.

I think the jury is still out on Aquilani and Johnson, it's certainly to early to call them flops.

Benitez would be a fantastic manager for us and what we need to get back to the top. In fairness to Allegri he does look abit different to the current crop of Italian managers had his Cagliari playing some quick counter attacking football. Perhaps in 10 years Allegri can be the man for us but as present there is no doubt that it should be Benitez.

The only problem I see with Benitez if he wants to bring all his staff with him. It would cost us a fair bit and I don't really want it eating to much into our transfer budgets.

Salv:- Say we did not get Blanc and Benitez then :p

tbike:- Why?
Because he still has a lot to prove. Granted, Cagliari played some good football, but just like Ciro, once they hit a bad patch, Allegri wasn't able to do anything about it. In a couple of years, maybe, but ATM, he's just a slightly smaller gamble than Ciro.
