even Lippi was a small coach once, you need to take a chance...this is not the first time Del Neri has had an impressive season.
It's not so much a small team coach. It's the history of the coach. If if we have to take a chance, despite having already done that with Ferrara and seeing how it went, we might as well do it with somebody with a little more mentality. We can buy whoever we want and splurge 80m in the market. But if we bring somebody who is accustomed to midtable finishes or in 25 years of coaching hasnt proven his temperament at a big club, than it's definitely going to rub off on the players no matter what formation we play or how succesful our transfers are. I'd much rather see Prandelli coach us, for his Juve background alone. He knows the dna that exists at the club. Del Neri doesnt. And I have to admit his Chievo effort was more impressive than the one with Samp, even though he's finished higher up the table this time around.

lol...'mentality', 'DNA'...all symbolic things that have no actual meaning...he's a good Coach, you can't doubt that...I also like Prandelli, he plays the better football and is of course a Juventino, which is immediately a tick next to his name.

He would employ the 4-2-3-1 here, like he did with Atalanta if he came. I guess thats a start.
That's the point, Del Neri's 4-2-3-1 in Atalanta was spot on. In addition, he knows how to employ the CM's. Many CM's did well under Del Neri's instructions( Guarante, Poli, Tissone). this is a proof that he can find the right combination in the midfield, and this may help Melo to get his top form back. However it is a risky to appoint him at his moment.

It's pretty simple actually. Winning, believe it or not is a habit. What you saw of Juve pre-calciopoli was the result of a team instilled with discipline that filtered down from the top. It wasnt because we had the best team on paper. It was because these players had been conditioned to succeed, feeding off coaches like Lippi, Capello and to some extent even Ancellotti who would accept nothing less. The team that resurfaced after Serie B to some extent still had those habits and mindset to fight till the last minute because defeat was not acceptable. They knew what it took to win. Ferrara had a fairly better team than Ranieri, but couldnt do half as well becase he couldnt impose that same mentality into the players. Diego for example, may be a very gifted player, but look at what the team has reduced him to. A mediocre player. Camoranesi would be the perfect example of being the result of his environment. I think he had potential when he came to Juventus, but it was the conditioning he found here, that made him the player he is today. The work ethic, discipline and will to win. I've always believed it's the mentality and DNA a club provides that lends to a tradition of success. Not just the players.

well his Sampdoria and Chievo wreaked havoc in Italy, even Atalanta were a very tough nut to crack during his days there...as it is right now, all the very top coaches are not available, it does look like we gave a hard try for Benitez...in that case, you have to start from somewhere, and Del Neri has a solid track record and is coming off a dream season.

Atalanta booked their place in Serie B this season.
