I remember when I thought friendlies mattered. That was between the black years from 2008-2011 (I think it was actually a couple seasons more, hehe). Now, most broadcasters here show preseason games. I love it, but the commentators also tend to analyse these games too much.

I mean the consistency of Szczesny. I still consider Buffon class. His ball playing skills has become a bigger issue, but he was never good at that part.
Buffon, for me, just looked way too tentative this past year. Made a lot of great saves, but also made a lot of avoidable mistakes by punching out crosses, or giving rebounds from shots he would have caught in the past. Looked like he didn't trust his own hands at times.

He got old. It sucks. But it happens. Glad he moved on before he could have a disaster season. Because even with the mistakes this year, he was still damn good, and we won a double.
